Want to start an argument among religious folks? Just bring up pork! 😆🐖

Pork is probably the most debated and disdained of the "unclean" foods mentioned in Old Testament food laws. But let’s take a step back—those laws were given for a specific group of people, at a specific time in history, for a specific reason. That reason no longer applies in today’s world.

But what does God say? In Genesis 9:3, He makes it clear:
*"Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything."*

After hitting the reset button on humanity, God knew that food sources, farming, and even the way we nourish ourselves would change over time. Instead of arguing over ‘clean’ and ‘unclean,’ the real focus should be finding the foods that heal and nourish our bodies.

So if you like pork, eat pork. But most importantly, eat in a way that aligns with your health, honors your body, and fuels your purpose. 🙌🏽✨

I still remember the moment my doctor told me I had 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲.

𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝘀.

I was young. I was active (or so I thought). I had no idea why this was happening.

But one thing I DID know?

𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

At first, I tried all the “standard” advice:
Eat healthy
Watch my salt
Exercise when I could

But guess what?

𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵.

And then… 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲. 😳

That moment changed everything.

I had no choice—I had to start taking medication. But deep down, I still believed 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙮 to support my health and possibly regain control over my blood pressure.

That’s when I started digging deeper. And I learned something that 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.

High blood pressure isn’t just about 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘁.

𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼.

I made a few key changes… and my BP finally came down naturally.

Here’s what worked for me:
𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲
It’s not just coffee—iced coffee, teas (even green/black), energy drinks, and even decaf have caffeine.
I swapped for herbal teas (but always checked labels—some sneak it in!).

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽
People who sleep less than 7 hours have a higher risk of hypertension. I had to:
Stick to a consistent sleep schedule
Avoid caffeine & alcohol before bed
Use blackout curtains
Unplug from screens (this was hard, but worth it!)

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀
Chronic stress = chronically high blood pressure.
Prayer
Deep breathing
Saying NO to stress triggers

E𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝘄-𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯
𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧!
High-carb diets = extra water retention = higher BP
Cutting back helped my body flush out excess fluid naturally.

The Bottom Line?
I know what it’s like to feel stuck, frustrated, and afraid.

Just bring up pork!

Pork is probably the most debated and disdained of the "unclean" foods mentioned in Old Testament food laws.

When your faith is strong, you can handle stress better. And guess what? Less stress = lower cortisol.

Here’s why that matters:
