In a study of sleep disorders and nocturnal cardiac arrhythmias in older men, researchers found that the likelihood of atrial fibrillation or complex ventricular ectopy (CVE) increased along with the severity of sleep disorders. ↗️
Polysomnography in 2,911 participants showed that the odds of atrial fibrillation and of complex ventricular ectopy increased with increasing quartiles of the respiratory disturbance index. Central sleep apnea was more strongly associated with atrial fibrillation than with complex ventricular ectopy.
