Many people with COPD may feel embarrassed to run due to their slow running foot, which can cause them to feel like they can’t keep up with others. However, the right amount and type of exercise has many benefits. Regular exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle, even if you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Moderate exercise can improve the body’s use of oxygen, energy levels, anxiety, stress and depression, sleep, self-esteem, cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and shortness of breath. It’s important to consult your doctor to determine the right exercise for you. Don’t let the disease stop you from enjoying happy times with exercise.

🤔Many people think that snoring and sleep apnea are the same thing, but that's not the case. Snoring is a common condition that happens when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is partially blocked. It can happen to anyone, and while it's often harmless, it can be a sign of a more serious condition like sleep apnea.

👀Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. It can lead to a variety of health problems, including high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease. Not all people who snore have sleep apnea, but if you're snoring loudly, waking up gasping or choking, or experiencing excessive daytime sleepiness, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about getting tested for sleep apnea.

👉Remember, sleep is important for our overall health and well-being. If you or your loved one are experiencing snoring or sleep apnea, don't hesitate to get it checked out.

🧐You may have seen oxygen concentrator promotional slogans that say 1L oxygen concentrator, 3L oxygen concentrator, 5L oxygen concentrator, what do these numbers mean? 🧐

👉This is the maximum oxygen flow per minute that the oxygen concentrator can provide under the premise of ensuring the oxygen concentration.

🎯Take a 5L machine with 90% oxygen concentration as an example: when the oxygen flow rate is controlled at any flow rate within 5L/min, the oxygen concentration will be greater than 90% to meet your oxygen demand.

🚦The choice of oxygen flow rate for oxygen inhalation generally depends on the degree of hypoxia and the underlying disease of the oxygen absorber. Daily health care generally selects 1-2L machines. 3L oxygen flow rate or more oxygen concentrators are suitable for medical institutions and home oxygen therapy health care, which are widely used and have more stable performance. 💚

🤔Patients who need oxygen machines for supplementary treatment are advised to follow the doctor's advice and not to buy them blindly by themselves.

🤔The doctor recommended that my grandpa use a bi-level machine with an S/T mode. What does this S/T mode mean? Why is this type of nPAP recommended?

🚦A bi-level machine with S/T mode can be thought of as an alarm clock. For example, if I expect to be up at 6:00 am tomorrow morning, I will set an alarm for 6:00 am. If I wake up before 6:00, I won't use this alarm clock. But if I'm not awake at 6:00, then the alarm will go off to remind me to get up.

🎯The normal breathing rate is basically between 12 and 20 breaths per minute. If we want the normal respiratory rate to be no less than 12 per minute, we can set a backup frequency of 12 on top of the normal pressure setting, and then the machine will turn into "alarm clock" mode. In other words, When the normal respiratory rate is maintained at greater than 12 breaths per minute, the machine will follow your breathing and deliver air. When respiratory failure is less than 12 breaths per minute, machine will be forced to deliver air according to the backup pressure of 12.

🧐Please follow your doctor's instructions for specific machine settings.

Nowadays, people are increasingly stressed with long, stressful work hours and numerous household chores leaving little time for personal enjoyment, hence revenge bedtime procrastination has arisen, which is a decision to postpone sleep to cope with stress or lack of free time earlier in the day. 😞

Although revenge bedtime procrastination can be tempting in the moment, late nights followed by early mornings can directly lead to serious sleep deprivation. Cutting back on sleep can have significant negative effects on mental, physical, and emotional health with short- and long-term consequences.

Try to recognize when you are engaging in sleep procrastination and adjust your mindset to get rid of this thought as soon as possible. 🔥

We take naps to feel refreshed. But only 49.1% of nappers said they felt that way, while 52.6% felt groggy. Meanwhile, 38.5% felt satisfied and 25.2% said they were well rested after their naps. 😣

Why are these numbers not high?
The most likely reason is that many people nap for too long. Napping for more than an hour can cause you to wake up in a deep sleep stage, leading to grogginess.

To avoid this dazed state upon waking, it is best to shorten the nap time or do something that can improve it, such as:
🔥Set an alarm for 10 minutes to wake up
🔥Lay down on a bed or a cot if available
🔥Put on an eye mask and ear plugs
🔥Go into bright light or wash your face after you wake up
🔥Take caffeine before taking a nap. This is because caffeine takes about 30 minutes to reach its full effect.

American Heart Association adds sleep to cardiovascular health checklist. 📋

Sleep duration is now considered an essential component for ideal heart and brain health.
American Heart Association’s checklist to measure cardiovascular health is updated, now called Life’s Essential 8™, adding healthy sleep as essential for optimal cardiovascular health. The new sleep metric suggests 7-9 hours of sleep daily for optimal cardiovascular health for adults, and more for children depending on age.

In a study of sleep disorders and nocturnal cardiac arrhythmias in older men, researchers found that the likelihood of atrial fibrillation or complex ventricular ectopy (CVE) increased along with the severity of sleep disorders. ↗️

Polysomnography in 2,911 participants showed that the odds of atrial fibrillation and of complex ventricular ectopy increased with increasing quartiles of the respiratory disturbance index. Central sleep apnea was more strongly associated with atrial fibrillation than with complex ventricular ectopy.

A common feature of aging is the advance of the timing of sleep to earlier hours, often earlier than desired. The sleep of older people is also characterized by an increased number of awakenings and a reduction of the deeper stages of nonREM sleep. 🛌
These age-related changes are also associated with sleep complaints, with most studies finding that more than one third of older adults report early morning awakening or difficulty maintaining sleep on a regular (several times per week) basis.🗨️ 💬

Although sleep disorders are far more prevalent in older adults, even otherwise healthy older individuals also show characteristic changes in sleep, including reductions in sleep efficiency and increases in awakenings. In fact, age-related changes in sleep structure are seen even in middle-aged adults.🧑 🧓

🍔 🍕 🍟 🌭 🥪 🌮
Obesity is a well-recognized risk factor for OSA, and higher body mass index (BMI) is associated with greater severity of OSA for both sexes. However, at the same AHI, women tend to be more obese than men.

One potential explanation for this is the difference in fat distribution between men and women. At the same BMI, men have higher mean body weight, fat mass and neck circumference than women. Furthermore, the independent effect of body fat distribution on lung function is more pronounced in men than in women.
