It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. Ofer Zur on February 19, 2025. Ofer was a psychologist, forensic expert, oceanographer, and true adventurer ~ someone who embraced life with unparalleled zest for growth, experience, and understanding. Exploring the depths of the ocean, confronting difficult truths in his work, or engaging in deep philosophical conversations, he lived with a fierce dedication to integrity, connection, and transformation, discovering meaning at the center of what he most valued.
Ofer, Fellow of the American Psychological Association, was not only a scholar and keen observer, also a compassionate guide to many. He challenged conventional wisdom, encouraged and demonstrated profound critical thinking, and believed in the power of dialogue to foster understanding through alternative perspectives. His impact cast far and wide, touching colleagues, students, and friends who were inspired by his intellect and his unwavering commitment to justice and human dignity.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his adult children, Azzia, Eitan, and Ilan. His family honors his memory by asking those who wish to commemorate his life to consider donating to Amnesty International, a global human rights organization fighting for justice and freedom, or a cause that resonates with your own pursuit of progress and trust.
