FLASHBACK – Kinross Tasiast Booth | Medex 2024

A look back at the Kinross Tasiast booth during last year’s edition of Medex, the Mauritanian Medical Fair.

As a responsible mining operator, Kinross Tasiast showcased its strong commitment to sustainable development and community health at Medex 2024. Through projects like its 34 MW solar plant, the company is contributing to greener mining, with an 18% reduction in GHG emissions and 17 million liters of fuel saved over the project’s lifespan.

Equally impressive was their impact on public health through initiatives such as the Tasiast Mobile Clinic and Project C.U.R.E.. Since 2014, the mobile clinic has delivered over 39,000 medical consultations across rural Mauritania, while Project C.U.R.E. has equipped 54 health facilities with over $6 million worth of medical supplies, distributed through 15 containers.

Kinross Tasiast’s presence at Medex 2024 was a powerful reminder of how corporate responsibility can contribute to both environmental sustainability and healthcare access for remote communities.

🇩🇿🇲🇷Algerian and Mauritanian Medical Teams Collaborate on Kidney Transplants in Algiers

A Mauritanian medical team recently joined Algerian counterparts in performing kidney transplant surgeries in Algiers. The initiative is part of a bilateral cooperation program aimed at strengthening Mauritania’s expertise in organ transplantation.

The visiting team, made up of seven specialists in general, cardiac, pediatric surgery, urology, and nephrology, took part in four transplant procedures — including one for a child.

This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of Algeria and Mauritania to advancing medical knowledge, building healthcare capacity, and promoting regional solidarity in specialized medical fields.

🩺 This spirit of collaboration and innovation will be further showcased at MEDEX 2025, taking place from December 2–4 in Nouakchott.
