EXPLORATION

One of the aims of our music sessions is to introduce new things to the children and let them explore them🕵️🕵️‍♀️. Through exploration the children will be encouraged to use their senses 👃👀👂✋ and fine motor skills . In the photo below, the children were given mystery eggs filled with different objects. The children explored different sounds 🔊, different textures✋ and different colours🌈. Moreover, they also had to explore ways how to open the mystery eggs to check inside 😲.

And this was our 6/8 session!

This session was about high⬆️ and low⬇️ notes. We explored this through animal sounds 🐄🐈🦁🐭and piano notes 🎹. We also revised fast⏩
and slow▶️ sounds through dance moves. We also had matching tasks, colouring and writing tasks and listening activities.

Rain🌧️, wind💨, ocean🌊 ....

These are some of the sound that we explored during yesterday's House of Glass - Music Inc. session.

The children were encouraged to use their senses to listen to the different sounds presented. This session took a multi-sensory approach where the children could not just listen to the sound but have the experience as well. The session also included some dancing and meditation.

Music instrument of the week: The Ocean Drum.

Throw⬅️ to our last Friday's session!

This session was about the clarinet. Some activities included assembling the clarinet, feeling the different parts of the clarinet, and blowing through a straw to blow away pompoms. The main targets in these activities were to enhance the children's cognitive, processing, and motor skills.

In our structured sessions, the children are given the right opportunities to explore music throughout the activities planned.

Who are we?

The House of Glass programme is part of the outreach section within The Medina Foundation for Music with the aims of encouraging and facilitating musical development and cultural awareness.

House of Glass focuses on making music accessible to young persons with disability, focusing on assisting children between the ages of 2 to 7 years who have just been statemented.
