Suffering in perimenopause is not your destiny!

But how you handle stress and how stressful your life has been will show in various symptoms during the transition to menopause. Here’s what’s actually going on beneath the surface:

When your body is under chronic stress, it prioritises the production of stress hormones over s*x hormones. This means that the more overwhelmed, rushed and depleted you feel, the less resources your body has left to keep your hormones balanced. And your adrenal glands get tired of constantly producing stress hormones. Then they can’t do their job properly when they have to help producing estrogen. Welcome to the mess!

Join us at the Menopause Wellness Day Retreat and get to understand your body better to feel more in control during this transition. A day to slow down and connect with like-minded women.

You’re eating healthy but that bloated belly just doesn’t want to get better.

Have you ever considered that it might not be a food related problem? Even the healthiest diet is of no use if not eaten under the right circumstances. That’s something that Ayurveda has been promoting for more than 2000 years and nowadays science is catching up with it.

Your gut and your nervous system are in constant conversation. There is a direct line between your brain and your digestive system which is called the gut-brain axis. When your nervous system is stuck in stress mode, your digestion cannot function properly, no matter how healthy you eat.

Whether it’s a full inbox, a rushed lunch eaten while scrolling, the low-grade pressure of trying to hold everything together, an argument with your partner - you name it. All of these and more shift your body into fight or flight mode. In that state, digestion is not a priority. Blood flow moves away from your gut, digestive enzymes slow down and gut motility decreases.

Eating in a rushed, distracted or stressed state is one of the biggest – and most overlooked – drivers of bloating, constipation and digestive discomfort in women.

So if you’re eating healthy but you’re still feeling off, maybe it’s time for you to check your everyday life and slow down. As a first step, try to have your next meal without rushing and no distractions.

Hi! I’m Yvonne and my mission is to empower you to feel your best self. Guided by the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda, I help you restore balance in your life — and your hormones — through nourishing food and a mindful lifestyle.

I felt hungry all day. I ate but after 1-2 hours the hunger came back. I never really felt satiated after meals. Cravings for sugar and energy crashes in the afternoon were totally normal for me.

But luckily all the above is a thing of the past. Let me tell you the mistakes I made so you don’t have to repeat them:

❌ I didn’t have balanced meals.
The balance between carbs, fats, proteins and fibre was off. Many meals were high in refined carbs and didn’t stabilise my blood sugar. Especially as someone who has high pitta, this is a big no go, because the metabolism is very fast.

❌ I didn’t eat enough
I thought a smoothie can replace a meal. I had a leafy salad for lunch (this is not a meal! It’s more a starter or side dish). I ate a bread roll with cheese or similar (very common snack from a bakery in Germany). Two hours later I was hungry again.

❌ I was snacking a lot
This was more a result of the 2 mistakes above. Since my meals were not enough and unbalanced, hunger and cravings kept creeping in. I had about 5-6 meals and snacks throughout the day to keep me going, causing a blood sugar rollercoaster and sugar cravings.

I am so glad that Ayurveda provided me the tools to live a life without constant cravings and energy crashes. Now I have 3 nourishing meals, and sometimes a snack in the afternoon, if needed. That’s it. I know what my body needs and feel very satisfied after my meals.

So many women are walking around chronically underfed and not even realising it. It’s a pattern I see a lot in my clients.

You skip a real breakfast because you’re rushing and grab a small snack when the hunger starts rising. Lunch has to be light because you don’t want to feel heavy and sleepy after.

But you know what - feeling tired and heavy after meals is not normal. Food should give you energy, not make you feel drowsy. If you’re tired, heavy or bloated after meals, that’s a clear sign something is off. Either you’re eating too much, not the right food or/and your digestive fire (agni) is weak.

Not eating enough of the right food during the first half of the day backfires. The sugar cravings, the energy crash and the need for more coffee is your body signalling it needs fuel.

Then, when dinner comes, you can’t stop eating. This is not because you have no self-control but because your body hasn’t been fuelled properly during the day.

Regular and wholesome meals nourish the body and keep your hormones in balance. A stable blood sugar means no energy crashes and less stress on the body.

That’s what you’ll learn in my 1:1 - how to nourish your body to feel energetic and how to avoid energy crashes and cravings.

Raw food, juices and smoothies, maybe a protein bar, and keep these evil carbs out of the house!

You seem to do everything right, at least that’s what it looks like from the outside. But what I see is different. I see depletion dressed up as clean eating. That’s far from a healthy diet for a woman.

You’re feeling cold, your hair is falling out, your period is irregular and scanty. And I bet you’re feeling bloated and without energy quite often, hormones all messed up.

When your body doesn’t get enough nourishment, it goes into survival mode. Digestion slows down, your cycle becomes irregular and your energy disappears. Undereating is stress for the body!

What Ayurveda has known for thousands of years, is that a woman’s body thrives on warmth, substance and regularity, not on restriction. Wholesome foods, complex carbs, good fats, proteins and fibre as the base. Not a 1500 calorie diet on juices, smoothies and salads.

Your body is talking to you - are you listening?

Stress, lack of sleep, a diet that doesn’t suit you
In the end this is what messes with our hormones and your overall health.

To achieve long lasting change and a balanced life with balanced hormones, we need to look at 3 pillars, the foundation:

Nutrition
Lifestyle
Stress Management

That is what my work is build on. In my coaching, we address the root cause, not the symptoms. For a change that lasts, choosing nourishment over depletion.

Are you ready to take control over your health and say goodbye to PMS, exhaustion and digestive issues?

Panchakarma - Ayurveda at its best

Exactly 2 years ago l was in Kerala, India, for a Panchakarma Retreat. Panchakarma means „five procedures“ and refers to five therapeutic treatments used to detoxify the body and rejuvenate the system. It is truly amazing!

Since I started studying Ayurveda I wanted to experience Panchakarma myself. In 2024 I was finally able to travel to India to deepen my Ayurvedic studies in its origin. I finished my studies and travels with a two week Panchakarma

Time to slow down, amazing nourishing food (best part for me!) and massages every day. Everything tailored to your needs. I never felt better! (by the end of the retreat
in between it was quite a rollercoaster 😅)

Comment RETREAT if you’re curious about my experience at the Panchakarma retreat, and I will send you the link to my blog, where I wrote about my time at the retreat.

Not getting off birth control sooner

This is really my biggest regret. I started taking the pill when I was 15. It was due to very heavy, long periods. I lost a lot of blood and got severe anaemia and iron deficiency.

I never thought about any side effects and that I’m putting my body in a complete unnatural state.

Then I started gaining weight, I was very moody and developed migraines with aura. But I was too scared to stop taking the pill, too afraid to get back these uncontrollable, heavy periods. And sure, being on birth control was very convenient.

End of 2020, after starting to formally study Ayurveda and realising that the menstruation is not a burden but a gift (a natural cleanse) and heavy periods are a sign of an imbalance, I finally decided to stop. That’s it, no more. After being on birth control for almost 20 years. I was still scared but now I had Ayurveda having my back and I knew that I will be able to manage.

đŸ™đŸŒ It was the best decision ever, although it took my body almost 2 years to get back into a natural, hormonal balance. (I mean, no wonder after such a long time
) My migraines stopped. I slowly felt like a different person, like I was finally able to be my true self.

đŸ©· I want to encourage you to look at your period as a very important marker of your health and hormones. As a monthly cleanse from inside, a time to look inward. It’s not a burden and it doesn’t have to be painful. If it is, your body is showing you that something is off.

Can we please stop glorifying cutting carbs from our diet, living on salads and smoothies all day and not eating enough, because we are scared to gain weight?

Imagine feeling happy and satisfied after your meal. No cravings, no fantasies about chocolate, cake, burgers or fries (whatever it is you’re actually craving for). Having no energy crashes throughout the day. A better mood, because we stop restricting our life, taking good care of ourselves.

Our body needs all nutrients to function properly. Protein, fats AND carbs. Especially us women, we benefit a lot from eating enough carbs.

The carbs I’m talking about are the healthy and wholesome carbs. These are beans, lentils, quinoa, oats, barley, wholegrain pasta, potatoes
I think you got it. These are your friends, not your enemies. They provide steady energy for your body. They nourish and ground us.

Always keep in mind: balance is the key! đŸ©·

You look happier!

Yes, I stopped making the same old choices that made me feel like crap.

If you want to feel different, you have to make different choices for yourself.

So after years of depleting my body, rushing through life, pleasing everyone except for myself, I finally started to listen to my body. I stopped listening to trendy diet advice, chasing the perfect number on the scale. None of this would have happened if I never came across Ayurveda. It taught me to listen to my body and how to take care of it, to understand what my body really needs.

Still, I haven’t mastered the perfect health yet, especially after stressing myself out for half of my life. But I’m on my way, feeling better than ever.
