Sometimes clients come in wanting to โ€œfixโ€ something right away. Itโ€™s a common wish, and an understandable one... but therapy isnโ€™t about quick fixes.

Just like with our physical health, lasting change takes time, consistency, and care. Just as we wouldnโ€™t expect one workout to transform our body, therapy isnโ€™t about instant results. Instead, itโ€™s a journey of small steps, meaningful insights, healing, improved awareness, and gradual change. Some sessions may feel lighter, others more challenging, but all are part of the journey toward building resilience and a stronger sense of self.

Be patient with yourself, your mental health deserves the same steady care you would give your body.

More often than not, a meaningful apology involves more than saying โ€œIโ€™m sorryโ€. It requires:

โ€ข Acknowledging the impact of oneโ€™s actions
โ€ข Taking responsibility without defensiveness
โ€ข Expressing genuine intent to repair the relationship

For some, offering an apology feels uncomfortable or even threatening, often due to fear of blame or rejection, difficulty tolerating vulnerability, or past experiences where admitting fault felt unsafe. Others find themselves over-apologising, which may signal underlying anxiety, people-pleasing patterns, or fear of conflict.

When apologising or receiving apologies becomes a recurring challenge in relationships, it can indicate deeper emotional patterns worth exploring. Therapy provides a safe space to understand these dynamics, process underlying feelings, and develop healthier ways of relating to others. Learning to give and receive apologies can transform not only relationships, but also our connection to ourselves.
