𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 was honored to host delegates from the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) , including H.E. Linda Scott, High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia to the UK and Northern Ireland, and H.E. Clifford Galea Vella, High Commissioner of Malta to Namibia, at AquaBioTech Group's headquarters in Malta.

During this visit, our CEO, Shane A. Hunter, and Director of Business Development, George D. Mantas, engaged in meaningful discussions about potential collaborations aimed at unlocking investments and promoting sustainable aquaculture and fisheries development in Namibia.

🐟 Namibia's rich maritime resources position it as a powerhouse in Southern Africa’s economic landscape. With 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟰𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀 of species such as hake, horse mackerel, and pilchard, the fishing sector plays a crucial role in the nation’s GDP and employment. Additionally, the emerging aquaculture sector holds immense potential for growth, as highlighted by esteemed organisations like the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸.

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), represented by Mr. Francois van Schalkwyk Executive Director, Investments, Ms. Ndeyapo Shilongo CA (Nam), PMP®, Head of Strategy, and Ms. Tina Andima, Investment Promotion Attaché, at the meeting, are dedicated to fostering local and foreign investments, driving economic development, and creating job opportunities.

EU Maritime & Fish European Commission Representation in Malta

🎯 AquaBioTech Group was represented by our Marine/Fisheries Consultant, Justin Galea, at ICCAT's 'Intersessional Meeting of Bluefin Tuna Species Group' held in Malta from the 15th to the 18th of April.

🐠 Fisheries scientists met to exchange expertise and discuss a proposal for the implementation of close-kin mark recapture (CKMR) sampling in eastern and western stocks of . 🐟This advanced technique allows researchers to identify parent-offspring pairs (POPs) in different fish stocks, allowing for estimates of total abundance in .

Justin presented the 'Harvesting Process of Farmed Atlantic Bluefin Tuna in the Islands (SCRS/P/2024/103) based on his experience in ICCAT GBYP sampling. This led to the strong conclusion amongst attendees that Malta is an optimal sampling ground for future CKMR studies on Atlantic Bluefin Tuna.

The event was also a great opportunity to demonstrate some of the results of the Blue Bio Cofund-funded PROFIUS Project that is developing and testing technologies to improve the utilisation of tuna by-products to extract proteins, lipids and bio-active molecules.

🎯On the 18th of April, AquaBioTech Group had the honour to host the delegation of the Akosombo Zone Fish Farmers Association (AZOFFA) from Ghana. Among other things, our R&D&I Dept. presented our projects in East Africa. More specifically, Freya Robinson and Thanasis Chantzaropoulos, presented the Vicinaqua, Foodland Africa and Praectice projects and how they can be applied in and the zone.

💎After the presentations, our experts held a workshop to identify the research needs for aquaculture in Ghana. They also identified the challenges that fish farming is facing in Ghana, their strengths and potential solutions to their problems.

✍Finally, the delegation did a survey on common Integrated Aquaculture Agriculture practices in Ghana that will support stakeholder engagement in the PrAEctiCe Project. Many different areas were discussed for future and our R&D&I department is dedicated and open to all efforts focusing on promotion and combating nutrient imbalance in .
