Bespoke Corporate Yoga WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY:

Yoga therapy (YT) is characterized by a clinical and personalized approach, assessment-driven methodology, and founded in scientific principles. Yoga therapists (YTs) conduct comprehensive client assessments, examining the different facets affecting health and lifestyle history to tailor effective and appropriate practices for individual clients’ issues and healing goals. Practices include pain-free physical exercises, mindful movements, breathwork, relaxation techniques, meditation, and compassionate, trauma-informed conversations. Yoga therapy may also include lifestyle counselling, fun and games as part of its holistic approach. How IS YT DIFFERENT TO MAINSTREAM YOGA:

The extensive biomedical and psychological training, longer study duration, multi-faceted approach, emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, and the in-depth knowledge required set Yoga Therapists apart. The specialised training demands several hundred hours and multiple years of training. Yoga teachers are primarily trained to instruct physical practices, often within a specific system like Ashtanga or Iyengar, and typically in group settings. The emphasis is on teaching standardized movements, without necessarily addressing individual needs, especially for those with specific physical or psychological health issues. While beneficial for some, not all yoga practices are universally suitable, and certain poses, breathing techniques, or relaxation methods may be contraindicated for certain health issues and/or individuals. Yoga Therapists are trained to create a whole-person approach based on individual needs. They consider various bodily systems and personal aspects, approaching issues from a biopsychosocial and emotional perspective. Yoga Therapists’ training encompasses knowledge on the body's biomechanics, organ systems, the nervous system, disease symptoms, progression and prognosis, treatment options, and the side-effects of medication. They also obtain an understanding of mental health issues, possess somatic counselling skills, and approach their work with trauma sensitivity. This comprehensive training integrates the mental and physical aspects, viewing health and disease within the context of individual behaviour and surrounding environments. WHY CHOOSE YOGA THERAPY (YT)? Yoga Therapy is gaining global recognition in healthcare systems. Clinical studies and empirical publications are increasingly affirming YT as a complementary and integrative therapeutic intervention. With its growing emphasis on accreditation and certification processes, YT provides an inclusive and accessible opportunity to complement medically-oriented treatments. HOW CAN WE HELP

MAINSTREAM YOGA CLASS

For those seeking to join a mainstream yoga class, we offer these sessions once weekly, following the Hatha Yoga style. combined with therapeutic yoga knowledge. Groups are generally kept small, with a maximum of 10 people to ensure that each student receives cues adapted as closely as possible to their needs without being lost amidst large crowds. Aside from modifications and variations given in general yoga classes, alignment, structure and individual body types are taken into consideration. We attend to any known injuries students may have, to ensure each individual feels at ease, focusing instead on being present on the mat. Gradually, students learn to become aware of their bodies both in their physical and subtle form, so that they too can begin to adapt their lifestyle to their needs off the mat. Whether in need of healing, or of letting go following a stressful day/week, we educate clients how to become more mindful of themselves and their surroundings. Emphasis is placed on alignment, mindfulness and empowerment, combining these with strength, flexibility, balance, pranayama, meditation and the importance of listening to one’s body to ensure a holistic delivery throughout. Most satisfying to us is listening to our students’ transformational stories as they progress from the beginning of their yogic journey. Who are these classes for? Our classes are suitable for anyone who is wishing to:

• Cultivate Flexibility: we'll guide you through gentle stretching movements and poses thoughtfully designed to enhance your body's flexibility with a mindful approach, simultaneously releasing tension and revitalizing your energy.

• Build Strength: we’ll harness the power of your breath to move in a way that cultivates strength from within, empowering you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace.

• Find Balance: we’ll embrace the mind-body connection as you explore balance on and off the mat to foster stability and calm in all aspects of your life.

• Cultivate Mindful Breathing: we’ll guide you through suitable breathing practices to support your system in finding solace within the present moment.

• Take Control of One’s Own Well-Being: through gentle yet empowering practices, we offer careful instruction to help you understand and heed your body's wisdom and cues. This empowers you to make mindful choices that honour your unique needs. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a newcomer to the practice, our classes welcome individuals of all levels and backgrounds. No prior experience necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to explore the infinite possibilities within yourself. CORPORATE YOGA

We’ve all heard the term ‘our employees are our biggest asset’. Without them, a firm cannot function and their well-being is therefore as important as their competences to ensure that they perform to their maximum potential for company success. Deadlines, projects, endless to-do lists and difficult colleagues all get the better of us at some point. A weekly appointment with your staff will help them to avoid common job-related injuries, maintain their focus and concentration, boost their immunity, reduce stress, fatigue, anxiety and depressive moods at work and encourage employee satisfaction and well-being to name a few. In turn, the company will benefit from increased productivity, reduced sick and injury leave costs, improved performance and an enhanced employer brand and reputation also amongst clients. Benefits of managing absenteeism / Impact of absenteeism

• Increased productivity;
• Reduced sick and injury leave costs;
• Improved performance;
• Credible employer brand and company reputation amongst clients (delays and staggered workflows never augur well with clients);
• Reduced overtime payments made to employees and/or temporary contract workers having to cover absences
• Improved profit margins:
o increased costs reduce profit margins (unless revenues increase)
o absenteeism can decrease revenue if employees within specific roles are absent

Why take our corporate yoga classes

Our corporate yoga classes are specifically oriented toward the general nature of employees’ work. Whether employees spend most of their day hunched over a desk, lifting heavy weights, engaging in repetitive movements that lead to repetitive strain injury, walk on their feet all day or otherwise, at baobab, we strive to develop classes accordingly. Employees will learn:

• how to establish functional breathing, that will simultaneously: a) enable them to manage stress and thus perform better in meetings and presentations b) reduce stress-related absences
• subtle ways to practice these breathing techniques without giving themselves away – thus encouraging them to engage in these practices without seeming odd
• how to improve their posture which helps them to: a) Avoid musculoskeletal issues related to their general position during the day; b) Distribute oxygen better to their organs providing nourishment throughout
• simple movements that they can engage in to ensure whole-body blood circulation to supports their joints, cartilages and tendons. Each of these requires movement for blood to flow through them and thus maintain their health.
• ways to control their nervous system and thus their nerves, appearing confident and performing optimally (Some people may be prone to entering a freeze or flight state when under pressure).
• Practices that aid their focus and concentration
• Practices that aid their digestion and which can be done after lunch time when performance may wane for some employees

As an employer, you create a more positive work environment both by offering corporate yoga classes as a benefit to staff and because of the effect of yoga which is often stated in many scientific studies.

Your thyroid is small, but its influence is more fa-reaching that we may think.

When thyroid function dips, it doesn’t just affect hormones, it ripples through the whole body. Consequently it:
✨ slows digestion and metabolism
✨ impacts bone and heart health
✨ disrupts mood, sleep, and energy
✨ interferes with fertility and menstrual cycles
✨ throws off detox, liver, and gallbladder function
✨ contributes to fatigue, cravings, and weight gain

This is why so many symptoms can trace back to an underactive thyroid, sometimes long before blood tests show it.

💡 WHERE YOGA THERAPY COMES IN

Yoga therapy works alongside medical care to create the right inner conditions for the thyroid and the systems it influences to function more smoothly, helping the body restore balance, energy, and overall wellbeing.

If you or someone you know is struggling with a slow thyroid or related symptoms, it’s important to see a healthcare professional for proper assessment and support. However, we’re also here to help you support your thyroid and overall wellbeing through yoga therapy

I believe yoga is not a space for photos.

Our practice is an inward journey, a place to reconnect with ourselves, and for many, it can even be a sacred, holistic experience. Because of this, I’ve never taken pictures during class, and despite people honing in on the fact that I must for promotional purposes, I struggle with it because the focus is on presence, not performance.

We move, we balance, we build strength and flexibility. We also take time to breathe, to settle, and simply be. For some, it’s a well-rounded physical session; for others, something deeper unfolds. Out of respect, I keep the practice unphotographed.

Sometimes I ask for a quick photo AFTER class (thank you to those who don’t mind sharing a smile with me 🙏). These little snapshots feel less about “content” and more about marking the joy of being together.

What I treasure most is introducing yoga to people for the very first time. Each week, I witness those first breaths, first stretches, first moments of curiosity and awareness softening into calm. It’s a gift. 💛 It’s also a joy to witness repeat students flourish from week to week.

As routines shift with the start of the school year, and a new kind of chaos begins, the turn of the season invites us to slow down and reconnect. If you’ve been wanting to try yoga, or revisit it in a supportive setting, this might be your invitation.

🤰Think pregnancy yoga is all about deep stretches and “opening up”?

Think again. Your joints and tissues are already soft, lax, and mobile thanks to progesterone and relaxin. Pushing them further can actually lead to pain, injuries, and long-term issues.

The real game-changer? Full-body strength, support, and containment. 💪

Strengthening your legs, glutes, back, arms, and wrists provides long-term stability and helps you manage the physical demands of pregnancy and early parenthood. It means you can carry your baby more comfortably, protect your hips and back, and set yourself up for an easier recovery after birth. Walking, swimming, and gentle movements coordinated with the correct breathing techniques are what truly support your body.

KEY AREAS TO SUPPORT:

• Feet: your foundation for balance and walking
• Legs: for mobility, stability, and carrying weight
• Glutes: powerhouse for posture and lifting
• Back: strong muscles help carry the baby during and after pregnancy
• Arms & wrists: essential for lifting, holding, and daily parenting tasks

🤱 Your body is designed to open and birth, but it thrives on strength, containment, and support, not over-stretching.

04/09/2025

I’ve been a little quieter here lately, not because there’s nothing to share, but because I’m practicing what I so often encourage in others: slowing down, creating space to breathe, and choosing oneself and rest. Lately life has felt a little more rushed and chaotic than usual. Even in moments I’d normally call “busy,” it somehow found another gear. So, I’ve been giving myself the gift of peace: stepping back, nourishing myself, and making space. This helps me to ground myself and it also allows me to welcome clients with a calmer, steadier presence.

Life can feel chaotic and urgent, and there’s always “more” we could be doing. But sometimes the most powerful practice is to pause, soften, and trust that in stillness, things align.

I’ll be back with fresh insights soon, but for now I’m honouring this rhythm, and I invite you to notice if your body or heart is also asking for a moment of space today.

Meanwhile, I’m also looking forward to moments of connection. This weekend I’ll be joining the BabyTalks Expo (a new-parent wellbeing + infant care conference) alongside other professionals, and I’d love to see you there. Come say hello:

✨ A reminder that therapy doesn’t always happen on the mat. Sometimes it’s in the simple act of walking in nature, noticing the sky, or bringing a few green companions home. 🌱 These little choices invite us into the present moment, regulate the nervous system, and restore balance.

🌿 Here’s a gentle invitation to step outside, breathe with the trees, absorb the ocean spray 🌊 or bring something green into your space. 🌷These small practices can be deeply heeling 💚

Class this morning was filled with such beautiful energy.

After a tough week, exhaustion beyond measure, and no sleep last night, I wasn’t sure how I’d show u, but being together in practice lifted the space and made it flow. Grateful for mornings like this 💜

My students remind me how deeply community nourishes us, making the practice lighter, joyful, and grounding 🌼 The group may shift from week to week, but I love seeing how community is beginning to grow, one person bringing another along

The last couple of days have been intense. While most of us know the importance of rest, we all push too hard at times, and i’m guilty of that too.

Yet we’re blessed by a body that speaks its own wisdom and today my body reminded me it needs rest…from morning my voice began to change - a first signal for me, a colleague kindly noted I look like I need rest (😅), and by evening my body began to shake.

The body knows exactly what it needs, and while I’ve learned to appreciate, understand and also follow its cues on most occasions, sometimes I go astray.

Shaking with fatigue is a signal from the nervous system: energy reserves are depleted, muscles are struggling to stabilise, stress hormones are high and the body is struggling to keep up.

So, as I tune in to my body’s wisdom, here’s a reminder that rest is not wasted time. In fact, during rest our energy is replenished, muscles and tissues repair, the nervous system shifts into recovery mode, stress hormones settle, immunity strengthens, and the body restores its natural balance while brain processes consolidate.

Both movement and rest are medicine.
May we learn to honour the body, making space for both.
