Bespoke Corporate Yoga WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY:

Yoga therapy (YT) is characterized by a clinical and personalized approach, assessment-driven methodology, and founded in scientific principles. Yoga therapists (YTs) conduct comprehensive client assessmen

ts, examining the different facets affecting health and lifestyle history to tailor effective and appropriate practices for individual clients’ issues and healing goals. Practices include pain-free physical exercises, mindful movements, breathwork, relaxation techniques, meditation, and compassionate, trauma-informed conversations. Yoga therapy may also include lifestyle counselling, fun and games as part of its holistic approach. How IS YT DIFFERENT TO MAINSTREAM YOGA:

The extensive biomedical and psychological training, longer study duration, multi-faceted approach, emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, and the in-depth knowledge required set Yoga Therapists apart. The specialised training demands several hundred hours and multiple years of training. Yoga teachers are primarily trained to instruct physical practices, often within a specific system like Ashtanga or Iyengar, and typically in group settings. The emphasis is on teaching standardized movements, without necessarily addressing individual needs, especially for those with specific physical or psychological health issues. While beneficial for some, not all yoga practices are universally suitable, and certain poses, breathing techniques, or relaxation methods may be contraindicated for certain health issues and/or individuals. Yoga Therapists are trained to create a whole-person approach based on individual needs. They consider various bodily systems and personal aspects, approaching issues from a biopsychosocial and emotional perspective. Yoga Therapists’ training encompasses knowledge on the body's biomechanics, organ systems, the nervous system, disease symptoms, progression and prognosis, treatment options, and the side-effects of medication. They also obtain an understanding of mental health issues, possess somatic counselling skills, and approach their work with trauma sensitivity. This comprehensive training integrates the mental and physical aspects, viewing health and disease within the context of individual behaviour and surrounding environments. WHY CHOOSE YOGA THERAPY (YT)? Yoga Therapy is gaining global recognition in healthcare systems. Clinical studies and empirical publications are increasingly affirming YT as a complementary and integrative therapeutic intervention. With its growing emphasis on accreditation and certification processes, YT provides an inclusive and accessible opportunity to complement medically-oriented treatments. HOW CAN WE HELP

MAINSTREAM YOGA CLASS

For those seeking to join a mainstream yoga class, we offer these sessions once weekly, following the Hatha Yoga style. combined with therapeutic yoga knowledge. Groups are generally kept small, with a maximum of 10 people to ensure that each student receives cues adapted as closely as possible to their needs without being lost amidst large crowds. Aside from modifications and variations given in general yoga classes, alignment, structure and individual body types are taken into consideration. We attend to any known injuries students may have, to ensure each individual feels at ease, focusing instead on being present on the mat. Gradually, students learn to become aware of their bodies both in their physical and subtle form, so that they too can begin to adapt their lifestyle to their needs off the mat. Whether in need of healing, or of letting go following a stressful day/week, we educate clients how to become more mindful of themselves and their surroundings. Emphasis is placed on alignment, mindfulness and empowerment, combining these with strength, flexibility, balance, pranayama, meditation and the importance of listening to one’s body to ensure a holistic delivery throughout. Most satisfying to us is listening to our students’ transformational stories as they progress from the beginning of their yogic journey. Who are these classes for? Our classes are suitable for anyone who is wishing to:

• Cultivate Flexibility: we'll guide you through gentle stretching movements and poses thoughtfully designed to enhance your body's flexibility with a mindful approach, simultaneously releasing tension and revitalizing your energy.

• Build Strength: we’ll harness the power of your breath to move in a way that cultivates strength from within, empowering you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace.

• Find Balance: we’ll embrace the mind-body connection as you explore balance on and off the mat to foster stability and calm in all aspects of your life.

• Cultivate Mindful Breathing: we’ll guide you through suitable breathing practices to support your system in finding solace within the present moment.

• Take Control of One’s Own Well-Being: through gentle yet empowering practices, we offer careful instruction to help you understand and heed your body's wisdom and cues. This empowers you to make mindful choices that honour your unique needs. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a newcomer to the practice, our classes welcome individuals of all levels and backgrounds. No prior experience necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to explore the infinite possibilities within yourself. CORPORATE YOGA

We’ve all heard the term ‘our employees are our biggest asset’. Without them, a firm cannot function and their well-being is therefore as important as their competences to ensure that they perform to their maximum potential for company success. Deadlines, projects, endless to-do lists and difficult colleagues all get the better of us at some point. A weekly appointment with your staff will help them to avoid common job-related injuries, maintain their focus and concentration, boost their immunity, reduce stress, fatigue, anxiety and depressive moods at work and encourage employee satisfaction and well-being to name a few. In turn, the company will benefit from increased productivity, reduced sick and injury leave costs, improved performance and an enhanced employer brand and reputation also amongst clients. Benefits of managing absenteeism / Impact of absenteeism

• Increased productivity;
• Reduced sick and injury leave costs;
• Improved performance;
• Credible employer brand and company reputation amongst clients (delays and staggered workflows never augur well with clients);
• Reduced overtime payments made to employees and/or temporary contract workers having to cover absences
• Improved profit margins:
o increased costs reduce profit margins (unless revenues increase)
o absenteeism can decrease revenue if employees within specific roles are absent

Why take our corporate yoga classes

Our corporate yoga classes are specifically oriented toward the general nature of employees’ work. Whether employees spend most of their day hunched over a desk, lifting heavy weights, engaging in repetitive movements that lead to repetitive strain injury, walk on their feet all day or otherwise, at baobab, we strive to develop classes accordingly. Employees will learn:

• how to establish functional breathing, that will simultaneously: a) enable them to manage stress and thus perform better in meetings and presentations b) reduce stress-related absences
• subtle ways to practice these breathing techniques without giving themselves away – thus encouraging them to engage in these practices without seeming odd
• how to improve their posture which helps them to: a) Avoid musculoskeletal issues related to their general position during the day; b) Distribute oxygen better to their organs providing nourishment throughout
• simple movements that they can engage in to ensure whole-body blood circulation to supports their joints, cartilages and tendons. Each of these requires movement for blood to flow through them and thus maintain their health.
• ways to control their nervous system and thus their nerves, appearing confident and performing optimally (Some people may be prone to entering a freeze or flight state when under pressure).
• Practices that aid their focus and concentration
• Practices that aid their digestion and which can be done after lunch time when performance may wane for some employees

As an employer, you create a more positive work environment both by offering corporate yoga classes as a benefit to staff and because of the effect of yoga which is often stated in many scientific studies.

Complex cases remind us that healing is never linear, and that the body, when met with patience, understanding, and care, holds immense capacity for change.

When this client first came to yoga therapy, she was navigating more than just layers of physical pain and discomfort, although that alone was immense. Chronic musculoskeletal issues in the neck, back, hips, knees, shoulders, and wrists made daily life difficult. Beneath that lived nervous system dysregulation, endocrine and digestive imbalances, anxiety-related cardiovascular symptoms, and disrupted sleep. Her breath was shallow, her posture shaped by years of tension, and her body held onto stories of past trauma in ways words couldn't always reach.

This was not a simple case. But healing never is. What it was, was honest. Raw….and more than anything, B.R.A.V.E. and A.U.T.H.E.N.T.I.C

Together, through one-to-one sessions, we moved gently, layer by layer, toward relief, regulation, and reconnection. We didn't chase quick fixes. We created safety. We restored breath and mobility, and we nurtured nervous system resilience, gently and in a trauma-informed way.

Through it all, something beautiful happened though: she began to soften, to open, to trust again, both in her body and in life itself.
Her transformation was beyond physical. She began to move differently, speak differently, see herself differently. She learned to honour her boundaries. She began to advocate for her own well-being, not just in the therapy space, but in the world outside.

Witnessing her journey has been nothing short of humbling and inspiring. Her determination, her willingness to show up even on the hard days, and her quiet strength made this work a true privilege. The woman who once walked in with pain and hesitation left with confidence, clarity, and a sense of wholeness.

When clients offer feedback like this, I always say that I may have held space, but they did the work. THEY ARE THE WARRIORS AND HEROES OF THEIR OWN HEALING.

When we meet each other with compassion, and create space for honest, embodied connection, healing clearly becomes not just possible... but transformational.

To this client, and to every person who walks through my doors: THANK YOU. You are why I pour my whole heart into this work and you remind me of what’s possible when we dare to begin.

I’m currently reading The Art of Happiness by the Lama. One of the things I often ask myself and perhaps translate into my yoga therapy sessions, directly or indirectly, is the question posed early on in the book:

“What is the purpose of our existence?”

And more so, “What makes our lives meaningful?”

To that, I usually add: “What brings u joy and what makes your heart sing?”

I ask these questions because they offer a means to work
holistically and make our sessions that much more meaningful. You see, once we experience joy, we experience a calmer nervous system, and therefore hormones shift into balance, making the heart breath slower and calmer meaning less risks of an enlarged heart, circulation issues etc. Our diet changes, our moods improve and as a result, so do our relationships and mindset improve. These shifts also alter our blood pH, triggering a cascade of other changes throughout the body. Even our appetite and digestion are affected, meaning virtually every other system feels the impact.

On the contrary of common belief, seeking our own happiness is not selfish. In fact, research shows that happy people are actually more social, more compassionate, more helpful, whereas those who are unhappy tend to be more withdrawn and less likely to engage in kind acts. Perhaps thinking of seeking happiness as an act of service is the way to commit to your own happiness because research also shows that altruism brings more joy

So with the above, maybe the real question is:

🌻“What brings you joy?”
🌻“What makes your heart sing?”
🌻And more importantly, “How are you willing to honour that, not just in thought, but in action?"

Let this be the beginning of something.
Whisper it to yourself.
Or share it in the comments, if that feels right.

🌿 Little Things Add Up

A swim and a moment of peace.
A short, intense 10-minute full-body workout.
A shake filled with natural goodness.
And a moment to breathe.

I used to think I had to go all in to feel better: strict routines, constant hustle, always trying to do more.
But lately, I’m learning that consistency beats intensity.
That wellness can feel… easy, simpler, more grounded. Even joyful.

No pressure. No extremes.
Just a small promise to myself, kept on the days I can. 🌱✨

Tiny rituals. Gentle shifts. A bit more hope each day.
Mindset is everything right now, and I’m holding onto like an anchor…something I come back to, especially in time of change and uncertainty.

If this feels like the pace you can afford…I’ll be sharing more of this journey as it unfolds. So it you’re looking for small shifts that feel doable in real life, this is exactly where I’m starting.

I’m quietly building something that’s helping me feel more balanced (physically and mentally) even through challenging times.

You’re welcome to join.
No pressure.
Just steady, grounded change: moving at your own pace, unfolding quietly, one step at a time.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Start small, start slow, but start. 💪🏼
I’ll be here, supporting you along the way. 🙃

WHAT DOES A YOGA THERAPY SESSION LOOK LIKE?

People often ask me and so I thought I’d show you.

🎥 Meet Stacey [name pseudonymised], a real person navigating chronic pain, fatigue, and nervous system dysregulation. Together, we work gently and progressively adapting each step of the way.

In this video, I walk you through her case with her consent, and share a few actual practices we use in our sessions. This is just a glimpse since every plan is tailored with care.

🧘‍♀️ This is Yoga Therapy in practice.

Real people. Real practices. Gentle, evolving support, one breath at a time.

Spontaneous by nature, but I also love my routines: steady, grounding. Change? I don’t quite do well with that, it doesn’t come easy.

My body might welcome it…the mind often resists it.

Like the tide, change rolls in… sometimes crashing, sometimes soft, nudging.

Today, I let it meet me as I am. Exhausted, slumped on the shore, listening, knowing that this is is the kind of healing I need.

And while in my sessions, I often tell others to rest, truth be told, I need the reminder myself at times to simply be, to breath, to let go.

Listening to the sound of the waves gently crashing to the shore, the odd boat passing by, the breeze caressing my skin as the sun kisses it, it’s all I need today.

And while I lay here, I thought I’d share a little reminder to my fellow human beings, clients, partners, friends or anyone else whos going through change. It doesn’t come easy, it comes with doubts, it’s raw. One moment u might weep, the next you find yourself nodding gently, as if bowing to what is.
Let it be.
Rest
Surrender to the unfolding.

We don’t know what’s round the corner but meet each day with curiosity and I beleive the battle is half done.

Namaste 🤍

Core and spinal strength are often recommended for back pain relief—but strength alone isn’t always the full answer. Over-focusing on exercises like crunches can actually increase discomfort by tightening key muscles like the psoas.

A holistic approach that balances strength, mobility, and full-body awareness is key to sustainable back health. This is where yoga therapy comes in—integrating breath, movement, and structural balance to support long-term relief.

🎥 Watch the video to learn more about the missing piece in back pain recovery!
