In this next article of the Bad Reputation Emotions series, I write about shame.

The quiet kind. The creeping kind.
The kind that makes you feel like you're too much — or not enough.

For me, it started with unexpected feedback… and turned into a spiral.

It’s about what happens when shame takes over, how it shows up in the body, and what I’m learning about sitting with it instead of pushing it away.

In this piece from my "Bad Reputation Emotions" series, I write about panic —one of the hardest emotions I’ve had to name, let alone share publicly.

I explore how it shows up quietly: in overworking, overexplaining, or freezing when things feel out of control. Through personal reflection, I try to understand panic not as a flaw, but as a signal — a part of us trying to protect something tender. This is an invitation to make space for the emotions we usually hide.

Writing about panic has been one of the most vulnerable things I’ve done. It’s still hard to talk about or even name it out loud.

Often dismissed as weakness or indecision, doubt is far more layered.

What if it isn’t a flaw in the system—but a form of quiet wisdom?
What if doubt isn’t something to eliminate, but something to walk with?

In this edition of the "Bad Reputation Emotions" series, I explore doubt as a companion emotion—one that loops, lingers, and sometimes leads us deeper than certainty ever could.

What does it mean to stay present in uncertainty?
And how do we honour the questions that don’t have quick answers?

Recognizing and honouring your limits is a profound act of self-love and growth. It’s about creating space for your heart, mind, and soul to breathe. By knowing when to say "no," you protect your energy and make room for what truly matters.

This isn't just about setting boundaries—it's about respecting yourself enough to prioritize your well-being, even when it feels hard. When you take care of yourself, you can show up more fully for others, creating deeper, more meaningful relationships.

Embracing your limits helps clear the overwhelm and allows you to focus on what fills you up, not drains you. It’s through this understanding of your own needs that you begin to navigate life with more ease, peace, and authenticity.

You deserve that space to grow, thrive, and feel whole.

Understanding Angry Clients.

reflects on the training she gave today.

This training gave me a deeper appreciation for the challenges sales agents face when dealing with angry clients. Their experiences highlighted how immediate and unpredictable these situations can be, requiring constant emotional regulation and negotiation between what they can and cannot control.

Our discussions on anger as an emotion, how it manifests, and how we respond to it were insightful. We explored the importance of adapting our responses based on the person and situation while maintaining a tentative and thoughtful approach. The D.E.T.A.C.H framework provided a valuable structure for navigating these interactions effectively.

Overall, this session reinforced just how complex managing client expectations can be and the skills required to handle such high-pressure situations.

What if envy, often seen as a negative emotion, could actually reveal something deeper about ourselves?

In this edition of the "Bad Reputation Emotions" series, I dive into envy—an emotion that's often misunderstood.

Envy can be like a shadow, growing in size and influence when we encounter something we desire but feel we lack. It may seem harmless at first but left unchecked, it can distort our perception of others and ourselves. By acknowledging envy and understanding its roots, we can choose whether to let it control us or use it as an opportunity for growth.

Bored and looking for something to watch, I stumbled upon Envidiosa. The main character, a woman desperate to get married at any cost, goes to extreme lengths to achieve her goal.

If you’re not dreaming, it could be more than just a poor night's sleep. It might be linked to things like stress, diet, or even your daily routine. Lack of dreams can affect memory processing, emotional health, and problem-solving.

Habits like heavy drinking, late-night screen time, or high stress levels can disrupt your sleep cycle and reduce dream activity. Pay attention to your overall habits to ensure you’re getting the full benefits of both sleep and dreams!

Self-love and self-respect are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Both are equally important, yet they serve different purposes in building a healthy relationship with ourselves and others.

Self-love is like the sunlight that nourishes the soil, allowing flowers to bloom. It’s the warmth and care that helps you grow, even in tough times. Without self-love, we can wither and lose our sense of worth.

Self-love is the gentle force that reminds us that we are worthy of growth, happiness, and peace, just as the sun provides light for a plant to thrive. It nourishes our souls and creates a sense of inner peace, reminding us that we are enough as we are.

Self-respect is like the roots of that flower, anchoring it firmly to the ground. It keeps the plant standing tall, no matter the storm or harsh winds. Just as roots prevent the flower from being uprooted, self-respect keeps you grounded and ensures that you don’t let others sway you from your values or treat you poorly. It protects us from being mistreated or taken advantage of, reinforcing the belief that we deserve to be treated with dignity.

Self-respect is about setting healthy boundaries and honouring our values.

Together, self-love and self-respect create the perfect balance: sunlight and roots—one helps you grow, and the other keeps you strong. When we nurture both, we build a foundation for more fulfilling, respectful relationships and a healthier sense of self.

Being part of a supportive community with mentors and coaches has a powerful impact on our mental health, especially when movement and positive words work together.

Great coaches like Coach Niall at Racket Up Squash Academy aren’t just focused on competition—they help you feel good about yourself, discover your unique approach to the sport, and build confidence.

It's inspiring to see how Coach Niall has shaped the attitudes and resilience of young athletes, particularly in how they bounce back from setbacks, keep pushing forward, and approach their opponents with respect and determination.

Emotions can feel like crashing waves—intense, overwhelming, and sometimes hard to manage. But just like the ocean, emotions have a rhythm. The key is learning how to navigate them, not just survive them.

Your feelings are valid—like waves, they will come and go. What matters is how we respond to them. We can’t stop the waves from crashing, but we can learn to ride them with more ease.

Naming the emotion, whether it's anger, anxiety, or frustration, helps you understand it better. Then, pay attention to how it shows up in your body, maybe tightness in your chest or a knot in your stomach.

Being aware of these physical sensations allows you to ride the wave without being swept away. Finally, notice how the emotion affects your behaviour, do you withdraw, react impulsively, or avoid?

Recognizing this gives you the power to choose your response rather than just reacting in the moment.

What emotions feel like crashing waves for you? How do they show up in your body or behaviour?
