He Landed on the 8th May 2016, apart from holding meetings with the President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim and the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Mr Ban Ki-Moon delivered the keynote address to the 2016 Conference of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).
He also had a meeting with stakeholders engaged in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals - The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The UN Secretary-General visited the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Site, and Le Morne Cultural Landscape and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mr Ban Ki-moon was awarded a Degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Mauritius.
Mr Ban Ki-moon is the eighth Secretary-General of the UN. He took office on 1 January 2007 and on 21 June 2011, he was unanimously re-elected by the General Assembly.
During these years, his priorities have been to mobilise world leaders around a set of new global challenges, from climate change and economic upheaval to pandemics and increasing pressures involving food, energy and water.
