To mark the 125th birth anniversary of the late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, fondly remembered as the Father of the Nation, a solemn and dignified ceremony was held today at the SSRN Hospital to honor his enduring legacy and visionary leadership.

The official ceremony was performed by Hon Anil Kumar Bachoo, GOSK, Minister of Health and Wellness in the presence of Hon Ranjiv Woochit, OSK, Minister of Local Government, Hon Kaviraj Rookny, Member of the National Assembly, Hon Nitin Prayag, Member of the National Assembly, Hon Rameshwar Etwareea, Member of the National Assembly, Hon Mohamed Eshan Juman, Member of the National Assembly, Mrs Sunita Joypaul, Daughter of Late Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam and Dr Harish Reesaul, Regional Health Director.

The theme of the conference is “Enhancing Health Systems for Equity, Resilience, and Sustainability”, and it is being held from 04 to 06 August 2025 at the InterContinental Resort, Balaclava.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness actively participated in the Salon de la Santé, de l’Alimentation et du Bien-Être 2025, held from 6 to 8 June 2025 at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles, with 12 dedicated stands.

Key activities included NCD Screening, blood donation, renal dialysis, nutrition, cardiac care, drug control, and career guidance.

Daily 15-minute health talks covered topics such as HIV and drug addiction, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and organ donation were also held.
