To mark World Cancer Day 2026 the Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the University of Mauritius, organised a series of activities on Tuesday 03 February 2026.

The official launch was performed by Hon Anil Kumar Bachoo, GOSK, Minister of Health and Wellness, in the presence of Hon (Miss) Anishta Babooram, Junior Minister, Ministry of Health and Wellness; Hon Dhaneshwar Damry, Junior Minister, Ministry of Finance; Hon Govinden Pynivel Venkatasami, Deputy Chief Government Whip; Dr the Hon (Mrs) Babita Thannoo, Member of National Assembly; Professor (Dr) Mohammad Issack Santally, Ag. Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academia), University of Mauritius; Dr Abdou Salam Gueye, WHO Representative (a.i.) in Mauritius; and other eminent personalities.

To mark the 125th birth anniversary of the late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, fondly remembered as the Father of the Nation, a solemn and dignified ceremony was held today at the SSRN Hospital to honor his enduring legacy and visionary leadership.

The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, is conducting a three-day conference to review the challenges facing health systems and to identify best practices in health care across the region. The theme of the conference is “Enhancing Health Systems for Equity, Resilience, and Sustainability”, and it is being held from 04 to 06 August 2025 at the InterContinental Resort, Balaclava.
