Wandikweza We believe everyone in Malawi should have access to high-quality health care when they need it

Wandikweza is a last-mile health systems builder transforming maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health through Proactive Doorstep Care, shifting care from overcrowded facilities to communities, at scale, in partnership with government.

Every day, our Community Health Workers walk into homes and communities carrying more than medical support. They bring hope, comfort, and reassurance. Their presence means mothers feel supported, children receive the care they need, and families know they are not alone.

It is through these simple but powerful moments of care that lives are being changed and communities are becoming healthier and stronger.

Every day, Community Health Workers walk long distances, support families, monitor children, follow up mothers and carry the responsibility of their communities. The work is not easy but we believe fun is also part of the work.

So sometimes, in between the hard work, we jump. Because we believe we can fly!

We believe strong health systems are not built by tired teams, they are built by teams with joy, purpose and belief.

Our culture is simple:
• We pray
• We work as a team
• We have fun through our work
• We pursue excellence in what we do

And yes… sometimes it looks like this. 😄

Community Health Workers are the bridge between healthcare and the communities we serve.
Through their dedication and compassion, essential health services reach families who might otherwise struggle to access care.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and joy of women everywhere.

At Wandikweza, empowering women also means celebrating their spirit ,the laughter, the rhythm, and the community that brings us together. Our women remind us of the beauty of joy, connection, and dancing through life together.

This International Women’s Day 2026, we embrace the theme “Give To Gain.”

Here’s to the incredible women who lead, nurture, inspire, and uplift those around them every day.

This week, we are pleased to host Felix Seuffet and Sikelela Qhashane from Butterfly Films as they support us in documenting and sharing our story.

They will be spending time in communities, meeting frontline health workers and capturing how Proactive Doorstep Care is strengthening last-mile health systems in the areas we serve.

We look forward to sharing powerful stories from the villages, homes and clinics where real impact happens. Stay tuned.

We exist because care starts at home.

In partnership with District Health Offices, we bring healthcare closer to where families live because strong health systems begin at the doorstep.

This week, 16th - 20th February, we are honored to host Julia Pettengill, Executive Director of The Schooner Foundation, in Malawi. Together, we will be visiting our Proactive Doorstep Care (PDC) programs in: Mchinji, Dowa and Salima. These visits are opportunities to:
• Meet Community Health Workers and Midwives on Wheels in action
• Engage directly with families and community leaders
• Strengthen collaboration with District Health Offices
• Review how Proactive Doorstep Care is decongesting facilities by shifting preventive, routine and follow up care to household and community levels, reserving health facilities for complex and referred cases.

We deeply value all our partners who walk the journey with us in the villages, homes and clinics where real transformation happens and sustainable systems are built.

We are grateful for Schooner Foundation’s continued partnership and belief in community-rooted, data-driven health systems that prioritize the most vulnerable.

Welcome to Malawi, Julia. We look forward to a meaningful and impactful week together.

Today, we celebrate our Community Health Workers (CHWs), the quiet leaders strengthening health systems one household at a time.

Before a complication becomes an emergency, a CHW has already visited.
Before a child becomes severely malnourished, a CHW has already checked.
Before a mother gives up on care, a CHW has already encouraged her.

This is Proactive Doorstep Care in action.

Our CHWs are the heartbeat of last-mile healthcare.

From 12–16 January, the Wandikweza team was in Mchinji District, holding introductory meetings with community members and local leadership. These engagements allowed us to introduce Wandikweza, listen to community priorities, and begin building strong partnerships with local structures.

This marks an important first step toward collaborative, community-driven programming in Mchinji.

From 9th to 13th November 2025, Wandikweza was honored to host Kenan Ng’ambi and Clementina Phiri from Primrose Community Health Organization, Zambia. Their visit provided an exciting opportunity for learning and exchange as we shared experiences in delivering community-based healthcare.

During the visit, our guests spent two days in the field witnessing our work through the Proactive Doorstep Care (PDC) model, seeing firsthand how Community Health Workers and Midwives on Wheels (formerly Nurses on Bikes) bring life-saving care closer to families in remote areas. They also spent a day at our head office to gain a deeper understanding of how Wandikweza’s integrated systems, data tools and partnerships strengthen primary healthcare delivery.

We are grateful for this meaningful exchange that continues to build collaboration and solidarity across borders.
