Taking a hands-on approach to public health, youths from the Kasungu District Hospital Youth Corner have earned praise from Kasungu Municipality officials for their efforts to improve cleanliness and sanitation in the town.
Josephine Mphako, Environmental Officer at the Kasungu Municipality, expressed her appreciation while observing the group conduct a sweeping exercise in Kasungu town, an activity aimed at strengthening hygiene and environmental care.
She emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is vital in preventing waterborne diseases such as cholera, which often spread rapidly during the rainy season when sanitation conditions are poor.
One of the participants, George Phiri, highlighted that the initiative demonstrates the crucial role young people can play in promoting community health, adding that the youths organized the activity out of a sense of responsibility toward their community’s well-being.
The activity was generously supported by the Kasungu Municipal Office, which provided refreshments and other essential resources, contributing to the success and vibrancy of the event.
