The Government Health Service Commission (GHSC) says inadequate funding and shortage of staff are major factors affecting operations of the commission.
Its Chairperson Dr. Themba Nyirenda told the parliamentary committee on health today that for instance out of the proposed K193 million budget, treasury has only allocated K91 million, describing it as a setback in executing their duties.
He has asked the committee to help in lobbying for more funding as they continue to engage other stakeholders to improve conditions of service for health workers.
Vice Chairperson for committee Urita Mtiza Valeta has asked government to address challenges affecting the country's health system.
