⚡ Project Completion | Powering Industrial Growth in Malawi
BNG Electrical Contractor is proud to have successfully completed a high-voltage infrastructure upgrade at a manufacturing facility in Kanengo Industrial Area, Lilongwe.
This project is a great example of how reliable power directly supports industrial expansion, productivity, and economic growth.
🔧 Scope of Works
🔹 Transformer Upgrade (1MVA → 2MVA)
We decommissioned the existing transformer and installed a new 2MVA unit — effectively doubling the facility’s power capacity.
🔹 11kV Overhead Line Upgrade (50mm² → 100mm²)
Upgraded the conductor to increase load capacity, efficiency, and network reliability.
🔹 11kV Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB)
Installed a new VCB to ensure advanced protection, safe operation, and long-term system stability.
🔹 Complete System Integration
Including protection systems, earthing, terminations, testing, commissioning, and full energisation.

This upgrade doesn’t just improve infrastructure — it enables the client to scale operations with confidence and strengthens the backbone of Malawi’s industrial sector.

On 28th February 2026, BNG Electrical Contractor participated in a Tree Planting Exercise at Maula Prison in Lilongwe, organized by Farmers Support and Capacity Building Organisation. BNG was proud to support the initiative as one of the sponsors.

The event was attended by the Minister of Natural Resources Hon Patricia Wiskes MP and the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Malawi who is also the Dean of Diplomatic Corp, highlighting the importance of collective action in protecting our environment.

As a participant of the United Nations Global Compact, BNG continues to align its work with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

🌍 SDG 13 – Climate Action
🌳 SDG 15 – Life on Land

This week, our team completed two office backup power installations in Northern Malawi.
At each site, we installed a 6kW inverter paired with a 5.12kWh lithium battery bank, providing dependable backup power to keep essential office loads running during outages — including lighting, internet, and workstations.
We take pride in delivering neat, safe, and high-quality installations that support uninterrupted productivity.

One of the projects we were privileged to implement in 2025 was a solar minigrid at a flood victims’ Champhanda relocation camp, where clean energy is helping families rebuild their lives with dignity.
So far, the minigrid has connected 30 out of 50 households in the camp bringing light, safety, and new opportunities to a community that has already endured so much.
For the families living here, electricity means:
Safer homes at night
Better learning conditions for children
Improved communication and access to information
Greater comfort and dignity in daily life

Today we reflect on a project we carried out in April 2025. A solar system installation and electrical wiring at For A Change School in Chiradzulu District!
Being an off-grid system, the impact is huge—reliable lighting, powered classrooms, better learning space for students as well as power supply to staff houses.

Today we reflect on one of our outstanding installations of the year 2024. A 22.68KWp Solar Power Installation for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Malawi (ELCM) Headquarters.
The solar system installed in a minigrid setup is now providing reliable power supply to multiple key buildings, including: the Hall, Dining Room, Guest House, ELDS House, PID Offices, Eight Staff Houses.
This project comes with numerous benefits, including:
Reliable and uninterrupted power supply
Reduced electricity costs for the institution
Promotion of clean, renewable energy
