Allow us to formally introduce to you CCDR Youth: A helping hand to communities in need. Center for Child Development and research stays true to its core values -and one of them being youth empowerment, it is pleased to acknowledge it's youth led taskforce; CCDR Youth. This team of brilliant and vibrant young individuals has come to claim a spot on the scene with their first ever project coming out the other side as successful. It has never not been anything short of impressive to see young individuals materialize ideas purely out of dedication and sheer will to achieve their goals and CCDR is a big advocate for young individuals who can take a stand on their own and deliver admirable results in what they pursue.

Talking to a member of the CCDR Youth Taskforce, Isabel Bota, this is what she had to say about the group and it's first ever project.

"I am very excited to share the awesome story of CCDR-Youth, an initiative by a bunch of us youth who really care about making a difference. πŸŒπŸ’«

The beginning of our last year of university was a very interesting time, because with each day the years got shorter and my peers and Ihad so many expectations considering that soon it will have to be us that will be the "working class." These expectations came with a side plate of reality about how finding employment can be challenging for most because of the circumstances we have in our country. That's when we had an epiphany and realized that we have to have a mentality of being job creators and not job seekers and so forh, hence this amazing idea inspired by the Centre for Child Development and Research (CCDR), a Non-Governmental Organisation in Malawi that helps the youth and families; communities and by a good friend that introduced it to us. We thought, why not create something as an extension of this but by the youth? And thus, CCDR-Youth was born!

We are currently a team of 16 youths, who do not overlook the importance of playing proactive roles that seek to improve the welfare of communities and value the importance of setting a lucid example to our peers on the endless possible ways and the, even more, potential the youth has to be main actors of change in societies.

The one of our many goals we aim to achieve is to have every child in Malawi to reach their full potential using smart ideas to make sure kids grow up happy and healthy and that was a factor we heavily considered when facilitating this project. We sought to motivate the heart of the students we reached out to, by showcasing that you don't have to wait until you're a big shot to finally help people, as there is a plethora of uncomplex ways that one can use to reach out and help elevate the livelihoods of people.πŸ’‘πŸŒ±

For our first ever project -which was a major success in our books, we mobilized donations from God given people all over the map (even outside the country!) to help out a school in Lilongwe called Youth Care Ministries Clinic and Community School. This is a privately funded institution in Chitipi alongside the road going to NRC College which aims at providing education and medical services to the underprivileged. The school consists of students from various backgrounds within rhe community who are funded by the school. On the 5th morning of February, after weeks of research and planning, we paid a visit to the Youth Care administration and pitched our motives to mobilize and donate clothes to students in need. For at least t 3 months, we independently -as a youth club manged to collect and finally, on May 10th, got to deliver the valuables we gathered to 40 very excited students there. Seeing their faces light up was a reward on its own! 🎁✨

We interacted with the children and got to hear from them about what they'd like to do to make a difference in the life of others and it's safe to say we coveyed the message to them and they compregended that even while young, there's so much they can do to make a difference πŸŒŸπŸ’¬

A big β€˜Thank You’ to everyone who pitched in! Your support means everything to us and keeps us going. Let's keep spreading love and making a difference together. Oh, and don't forget to take care of yourselves too!"πŸŒΏπŸ’š

Come join us on this awesome journey to help bring change where it needs to be. Together, we can make big things happen with CCDR Youth! πŸ’ͺ🌍
