The Reserve Bank of Malawi-RBM is advising the public to report to the police, all traders who refuse to transact in lower currency notes.

It has been established that some traders do not accept monetary transactions of the K20 and K50 banknotes, leaving customers helpless.

In a statement, RBM expresses concern over the development saying the two banknotes remain legal tender in the country.

It further states that the bank does not intend to remove these denominations from the Malawi currency structure.

The bank however reveals that the two denominations would in the near future be converted into coins.
