Mariel Witmond Mariel Witmond is a transformational guide with a diverse heritage. Bringing women back to their innate, embodied wisdom. sonder: n.

Her journey from stress-induced health battles to holistic healing is a testament to the power of self-discovery. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Mindful Sonder is the conscious awareness that we all have, and all are, living our own personal truths. We live our lives based on how we choose to live, and see, the world around us. As human beings, we have the answers we are looking for already within us, sometimes we just need a little help to access them. Working the mind, body and spirit, I take a holistic approach to wellbeing. This manifest itself for me in three areas: Life Coaching, Yoga and Nutrition. This website was created through personal experience to help others find and live their best lives. Everyday is a Chance to Change Your Life.

This retreat is about coming together, embracing our vulnerabilities, and lifting each other up as we uncover our innate power. It's about moving from "holy s**t" moments to "holy shift" revelations.

Each day we will connect with the Medicine Wheel and it’s relevant Archetypes as we move our bodies (yoga, ecstatic dance, somatic practices), explore rituals and workshops (cacao ceremony, sound healing, womb healing), connect with like-minded women, and eat delicious vegan food provided by our amazing chef!

- Day One: Embrace the Lover (East) - Through the Air element, we uncover the pathway from grief to the depths of love and connection within ourselves.
- Day Two: Ignite the Warrior (South) - Transforming anger into strength, fueled by Fire.
- Day Three: Awaken the Priestess (West) - Facing fears with Water, unlocking wisdom in the depths.
- Day Four: Ascend with the Queen (North) - Celebrating joy with Earth, claiming your sovereignty.

9 things I have learned through my journey of self exploration and rediscovery…

I actually wrote these before Liam was born, but they are as true today as they were back then.

Which of these speaks to you most? 👇

Why is our ability to slow down so essential?…

Our need to self protect in the face of fear is what keeps us disconnected and disembodied as we pile on armor to defend ourselves. The fear of inadequacy leaves us feeling the need to prove rather than improve and please rather than maintain integrity. We can’t heal without allowing ourselves to feel into the body; to understand our emotions - and in order to do that we need to slow down and go within.

This is your reminder to breathe deep. Hit pause for a moment. Tune into the magic around you and inside of you.

Our goal is to get things right, to do our best - not to be right and be the best.

I’ve learned that it is often not the situation itself that makes us unhappy but how we choose to think of it. When we slow down, tune in and find acceptance - we dilute our conditioned and overwhelming thinking and find new perspective.

So if you’re feeling guilty about slowing down and fearful of falling behind - remember that this is because we tie our worth to achievement, but the need to achieve will only reinforce feelings of not-enoughness (not doing enough or being enough or having enough). We give from the overflow of our cup - your priority is to make sure that cup is full. And we don’t fill that cup through achievement but rather nourishment, fulfilment, and gratitude for all we already have. It’s this shift in mindset that takes us from competition to supporting one another; from comparison to inspiration (the word inspiration literally a reminder to breathe in).

Sometimes the most urgent thing we need to do is nothing at all. If you were looking for permission to slow down, you’ve got it!

Our self preservation often leads us to our own betrayal and is what tends to keep us feeling stuck. The things that hold us back are learned responses, not a reflection of who we are in our essence. We are not damaged and the beauty of something learned is that we can unlearn it and change. There are healthy routes to recovering when we are able to cultivate a safe, healing state. Sometimes in order to do that, we need help because in trying to balance it all, we neglect the most important piece of the equation – ourselves. That is where coaching can be so invaluable.

I trained as a life coach with the same year I became a yoga teacher and then went on to certify as a health coach with . Since then I have done a foundation course in psychotherapy and counselling, while continuing to develop a deeper connection to somatic forms of healing through movement, meditation and breathwork.

I believe that all human beings are naturally creative, resourceful and whole – and as such, everyone has within them the answers they seek. However, in a world filled with a “need now” / “do more” attitude, we often find ourselves so overwhelmed we are incapable of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Life Coaches help you get out of your own way.

The job of a Life Coach is to walk beside you, helping you to build your own inner resources as they keep you accountable to your commitments. I don’t coach to solve problems, I coach people to live lives.

Tap into the massive resource inside of you that will take you from surviving to thriving and learn to achieve your goals while getting to know yourself again in the process!

Please get in touch if you would be interested in a free chemistry session to discuss where you are at and to see if we would be a good fit! 💗

People often ask me what the benefits of moving often as a child were (my dad’s job had us moving every 3-5 years) and though yes, it makes you adaptable and you are exposed to cultures and different ways of life… the real benefit for me was what it did for our family unit.

Maybe it’s because we are all we have when things are new, or we are the only ones who know what it’s like to give up everything you know for everything you don’t…but it kept my family very close growing up, and I can see traces of this now as we bounce around the globe.

Here are some of my favourite recent snaps while in Europe of our tribe 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Clients tend to come to me when they believe themselves to be in a “bad” place. We often shy away from the discomfort we are experiencing by using maladaptive coping strategies we’ve learned through our conditioning that keep us repeating unhealthy habits rather than addressing the underlying issues. The great thing about being in a “bad” place is that your body and mind are telling you ENOUGH. They are giving you a chance to do something differently. And it’s often from here that amazing things can happen.

I put together some of the things I’ve noticed from years of coaching clients in this post. Its not easy to see them this way when you’re in the thick of despair, but that is why working with someone else can be so helpful - to glimpse another perspective and see your reflected image in the mirror being held in front of you. To receive the tools to connect with your body and challenge your mind in order to create strategies that don’t just allow you cope, but to thrive!

I have limited space for new 1:1 coaching clients in May, please DM or email me if you would be interested in a free introductory call 💗

Coming out of a five day plant ceremony retreat I thought I’d share some words that have been on my mind lately as I continue to do the work on my healing journey so I can hold space for the healing of others.

They say that when we heal ourselves, we heal 7 generations before and after us. Our healing contributes to that of the greater collective. It may seem strange for me to do this work with two small children, but I do this work for them.

We can get very good at coming up with reasons why not to do the work, and it’s because we know it is “work” - it can be tedious, painful, hard. But the rewards are infinite. It takes courage and humility to show up for yourself in this way.

As I decompress and continue to process these last few days, I am opening up just a few spaces for new coaching clients should you be interested in working with me 1:1. I also offer a comprehensive self study course you can move through at your own space with access to everything for an entire year (follow the link in my bio). Lastly, I am hosting another retreat in Mexico August 6-12 where I will be sharing teachings, ceremonies and rituals that have transformed my life - and there is no better place to do this than in a sacred valley, nestled in the arms of the magical mountains of Tepoztlán. I hope you can join me! 💗

Almost 3 months into our family sabbatical! We have moved “home” 5 times, Saya has been to 3 different schools, I have taught a workshop, retreat, and festival, and William and I have signed up for countless workshops, detoxes, courses and opportunities for self development - both of us looking to make the most of this time to grow as individuals, as a couple, as parents and as a family unit. There’s been an array of emotions, a constant need to “go with the flow” and so many lessons in surrender.

I’m partaking in a plant medicine retreat in a week’s time that I’m a bit nervous about as I know it’s going to be deep work, but I feel called to continue healing the parts of myself that will allow me to hold space for the healing of others.

3 months down…5 more to go 🤯 If you have any questions about our time away, places visited, experiences had, etc let me know in comments below 🥰
