This time of year brings up so much gratitude — the big things, the tiny moments, and the surprises we didn’t see coming. But here’s the part we don’t hear often enough:
Did you make it onto your own gratitude list?
We love the science behind gratitude and how it can literally rewire the brain… but over the years, we’ve realized something even sweeter: gratitude isn’t just for who we’ve been. It’s for who we’re becoming.
Somewhere along the way, we started thanking our future selves. Whenever we did something grounding, nourishing, or slightly inconvenient-but-important, one of us would joke, “future Sarah is going to thank me!” And it always made us smile. It still does.
Because every glass of water, every boundary, every moment of rest… is a small act of devotion to the version of you who’s already grateful.
So here’s your soft check-in this week:
Where do you want to arrive by the end of the year — not in a big dramatic way, just in how you want to feel?
And what’s one tiny thing your future self would thank you for today?
A walk outside.
Resting instead of pushing.
Scheduling that appointment.
Reaching out to someone who brings you back to yourself.
Showing up for a practice or gathering that fills your inner well.
A small step toward the life you’re building.
Little choices ripple forward. Little devotions shape us.
And if you need a soft place to land as you take those steps, we’re right here — smiling with our own future selves who are already whispering, thank you.
