What brought me to my path?
Let’s start here:
When I was in my late 20’s, it was a time of recklessness. My Saggie arrow needed an aim and I was aimless. I had just wrapped up a very toxic relationship and felt very low and depressed. I remember crying, reflecting on my life, and knowing that there was something more to life than what I was experiencing. Something inside me knew I needed to find out what that was.
Around this time, I had also started attending a spiritualist group and I was learning many things: scrying, channeling, tarot, candle gazing, sacred geometry, etc. That’s when spirituality became my passion. It was the early stages so, I hadn’t quite gotten into the meaning and symbolism of things but it was enough to really get me inspired.
Over the next few years, it began to evolve for me. I really became motivated by why things happen and what they are here to teach us. I knew I wanted to transmute the experiences I had into lessons. Gain wisdom. I had always been a person who likes to journal but my journaling became a way for me to really understand life better. It helped me to become more insightful and I was learning all the time. I knew I wanted my passion for spirituality to become my new career but I didn’t quite know how. I decided I would become an energy healer.
I was working in retail management and had one, very fateful conversation with a very good friend at the time. She was an herbalist and a massage therapist. I was telling her that I really wanted to change careers and become an energy healer. She explained to me that if I wanted to be taken seriously as an energy healer, I would need a license to touch. So, I started looking for a massage therapy school that also offered Reiki classes. I found a school in Lubbock but it didn’t work out, the class size was too small and they had to postpone. Then, I had another fateful conversation, this time with my mom. She suggested I look in the Nashville area, since that’s where she lived. I did just that, my already chaotic life was kind of unraveling anyway.
That’s when I stumbled upon Cumberland Institute of Holistic Therapies in Brentwood, Tennessee. They ticked all the boxes of anything I could want. I called and had a conversation with Teresa Geene. I didn’t even have to tour, I knew inside this was the school for me. This was in May. By mid September, I relocated to Nashville and began my journey. It was the best thing I could have ever done.
“Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon then from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins the journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of the crowd, and by choosing knowledge over veils of ignorance. “
