Planning not to vaccinate your baby? Here are 5 things you really should know:
1️⃣ The toxins from the bacteria that causes whooping cough ('bordetella pertussis') can be so damaging and even lethal in young babies, as it was in our child (pictured). Getting vaccinated is the safest and most natural option - far better than allowing this terrible foreign bacteria to invade & damage your baby's tiny body.
2️⃣ There are no cures for most of the diseases that we vaccinate against. While some treatments may be available (in Riley's case, they slowly and manually removed and then replaced his blood), they are often highly invasive, painful, and may not be effective.
3️⃣ If your child contracts a disease like whooping cough or measles, they are likely to be asymptomatic (have no symptoms) yet be highly infectious for the first day or two of their infection. This means you need to be comfortable with the fact that your seemingly-healthy child could infect others, including elderly grandparents, newborn babies, those undergoing chemotherapy, and pregnant women.
4️⃣ Nearly 95% of Australian families choose to vaccinate their babies, including almost all medical professionals. Sure, the government might be recommending vaccines to save $$$ on hospitalisations and disease outbreaks, but medical professionals recommend it because they literally don't want their patients to die.
5️⃣ There is a considerable industry behind anti-vaccination activism. These well-funded lobby groups will create and disperse anti-vaccine misinformation in an attempt to recruit new members, and to sell books, workshops, "immune-boosting" supplements or other unproven alternatives to vaccines. It's very, very easy to fall prey to their effective tactics - and tragically their misinformation has led to the deaths of many.
We've seen the devastation that vaccine-preventable diseases can cause, and we'll always be affected by our son Riley's death from whooping cough.
If you've decided not to vaccinate your baby, please know that it's not too late to change your mind! ❤️
