15 months later 🦴 💪🏼 hardware is out
December 2024 I had an accident at home that left me with a shattered tibia, fibula and 5th metatarsal. In the moment my current life flashed before my eyes, and I thought everything I knew and worked for was over.
I had a woman come up to me at a coffee shop a few months later and she sweetly said something I didn’t really want to hear at the time “I’ve been here too, you will heal, this happened for a reason there is a lesson in this and you will be better for it in the end”. She was right.
These last 15 months were full of fear, anxiety, tears, frustration, and months of hard work met with blind faith. I still have quite the road ahead, but not as treacherous. First time with anything is always the hardest, second time around we know what to expect.
Things I have learned these last 15 months :
• The body is the most incredible machine we will ever own. All the years that I put time, effort, work, and care into myself.. made all the difference. My body worked for me when I couldn’t.
•People will always project their own fears, limitations and insecurities on you. This is not a prediction or a reflection of you. You simply become a mirror to their own fears/ immortality.
•We have to meet it at least half way. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. You can’t just let your body, your doctor, your team do all the work. You have to face the friction. Repeatedly. In diet, in rest and in work.
•I say this in my class all the time but it took a different meaning this last almost year and a half… it is so important to believe to achieve, but when you show up consistently- your body will show you where your current beliefs and inner dialogue are selling you short. and with that your mindset becomes everything.
•You’re allowed to complain and have bad days - but don’t live there. It’s important to be a lil delulu. If you don’t see it for yourself no one will.
•Pain is an amazing teacher and tool when you alchemize it correctly. It gives you the opportunity to self audit and rewrite your inner self talk and propel you forward.
