Her insurance agent brought her to me…

A nice lady in her 30’s with no illnesses. She noticed gradual distension of her abdomen. She saw a few local gynaecologists who diagnosed her with a huge abdomino-pelvic mass, unable to ascertain the origin — whether huge fibroids or an ovarian tumour. She was offered open surgery with a midline incision. She was not ready for a long wound on her tummy, knowing the recovery would be more painful and slower.

Her insurance agent brought her all the way from another state to see me.

I assessed her carefully, taking my time to scan with ultrasound. I concluded that these were multiple huge fibroids arising from the back of the uterus and cervix. The locations were odd — the mass basically filled the entire pelvic cavity, leaving minimal access for removal.

We discussed the findings, I drew it on paper to help her understand better. We decided on laparoscopic myomectomy, as I saw a high possibility of success laparoscopically.💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

The operation went well, without any complications. 😎😎😎

The decision for laparoscopy instead of open surgery (the “easy way out”) was not to satisfy my ego. This was a decision made from careful assessment, 200% planning, and meticulous intra-operative manoeuvres. It was not a 50-50 gamble 👎👎❌❌— patient safety is always my priority✅✅👍👍❤️❤️. If I had hesitated, I would have said we go for open surgery without a second thought.

A full day with difficult cervical fibroids surgeries.

Case 1: Laparoscopic cervical Myomectomy. Young patient was offerred by previous gynae for midline open surgery. Travelled a distance for another state for laparoscopy. Op was successful without any complications.

Case 2: A lady came with prolonged heavy me**es with pr*****ed cervical fibroids caused her severe anemia. After control bleeding and blood transfusions, proceeded with open surgery due to limited budget. All went well.

P/S: tired day, but satisfied with surgery outcomes, all efforts and muscle aches are worthy ❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰😎😎😎 #

10-10-25 Shopee sales

While everybody was in the midst of their shopping spree, we had our very own 10-10 Columbia Asia Hospital Bukit Jalil “sales” 😁😁🤩🤩 The 10-10 baby which we were working so hard towards, hardwork paid off well. Baby delivered well and safe, mommy had a smooth painless (epidural-ed) delivery experience. 🙇🙇💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Our first encounter dated back to 3 months ago. This fine mommy came to my clinic with her third pregnancy at 28 weeks. She was referred to me by her hubby!!! 😎😎😎😎 we assessed her pregnancy, she was well so does her baby. Fast forward to 36weeks, baby was growing, but slightly at the lower limit centile of growth chart. Pregnancy continued to 38weeks where we discussed to induce labour after weighing the risks and benefits, we decided to go with induction of labour, her preferred date is 10-10, i had some plan for outstation on that day, we discussed whether to change the date to an earlier date or my colleague will take over during my absence on 10-10. Though my trip was planned some time earlier, but my heart told me i have to attend to this baby. After discussed with my boss at home, we decided to delay the trip so i can stay back for this 😎😎😎😎.

No regrets, everything went well. Both mommy and baby were safe. The moment she had her first cry, all the efforts were worth while. 🥰🥰🥰🫡🫡🫡Though the baby is small in size, but she did cry out louder than most babies.

P/S: I finally met my referring “doctor”- MR Hubby during admission, we didn’t get to meet for the whole period of follow up till admission to ward. I don’t remember whether I thanked you for your referral (I thought I did). Thank you again MR HUBBY for your trust.

For those of you who think I generally perform gynae surgeries…..just to remind you I learned to delivery babies way earlier than performing complex gynae surgeries. peace out ✌️ ✌️✌️

A great way to spend a Sunday Morning!!! Woke up at 5 something……washed up…….got ready and headed to the park for “Line Friends Fun Run”. Trying to build up momentum for a healthier lifestyle. Need to stay healthier with better stamina to cope with my increasingly demanding work routines and other activities 🥰🥰🥰. 我记得多年前在台湾时，当地人除了吃月饼，也喜欢一起烤肉庆祝，那份热闹气氛让我印象深刻。

小时候提着灯笼、望着圆月，总觉得嫦娥真的在月宫上微笑着看我们。😊✨

🌺🐵Not every Myomectomy can be done with minimally invasive surgery!! 🐵🌻

A young girl walked into my clinic with a heavy heart. She had been diagnosed with a big fibroid and was offered laparotomy — open surgery.

She was worried. She’s young, active, with work and family commitments… the thought of a big wound and a long recovery felt overwhelming.

After listening to her story and reviewing her scans, we discussed another option: laparoscopic myomectomy — a keyhole surgery that, if suitable, could remove the fibroids while allowing her to recover faster with minimal scars.

A few weeks ago, we completed the surgery successfully. Her fibroids were removed (all nicely lined up like a plate of Topokki after surgery 😅), her uterus preserved, and she walked back into my clinic with just tiny incisions. The smile on her face after surgery was priceless. (And her mom’s too 💕)

💡 Every patient’s case is different. Sometimes laparotomy is still the safest and best option — and that decision should always be respected. But for selected patients, laparoscopy offers a chance for faster healing, less pain, and an earlier return to normal life.

✨ Her journey reminds me that medicine is not just about removing disease, but about helping women move forward with strength and confidence.

And maybe life is like keyhole surgery too — small steps, tiny cuts, but a big difference in the end. 💪🌸

(PS: Not everyone may find the “Topokki” moment comfortable in photos — she herself went “eeew!” when I showed her 🤭. But for us surgeons, it’s a little victory worth treasuring. Truly… Topokkilicious! 🤩🤩).
