Hamstring walkout

The main benefit is the strength gained in the hamstrings. This is an excellent exercise for athletes who need to build strong hamstrings for both performance and injury mitigation. It is also excellent to maintain strength in the hinge pattern and maintain muscle mass if you don't have access to weights.

1๏ธโƒฃ Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
2๏ธโƒฃ Ensure your feet and knees are hip-distance apart.
3๏ธโƒฃ Tighten your buttock and abdominal muscles as you lift your hips up into a bridge position.
4๏ธโƒฃ There should be a straight line from your shoulders to your knees.
5๏ธโƒฃ With your weight in the heels of your feet, start alternately walking one foot, and then the other foot away from your buttocks.
6๏ธโƒฃ Ensure you keep your hips up as high as you can, and your abdominal muscles activated.

The calf is comprised of two muscles โ€” the gastrocnemius and the soleus. These muscles meet at the Achilles tendon, which attaches directly to the heel.

Calf pain varies from person to person, depending on the source of pain, and can vary in nature. For some people, calf pain feels like a dull, aching, or sharp pain in the back of the lower leg, sometimes with tightness.

Symptoms that might indicate a more severe condition include:
โ€ข swelling
โ€ข unusual coolness or pale color in the calf
โ€ข tingling or numbness in the calf and leg
โ€ข weakness in the leg that comes on suddenly
โ€ข fluid retention
โ€ข redness, warmth, and tenderness of the calf

You should visit a doctor if you have any of these symptoms in addition to calf pain.

Thoracic spine mobility on foam roller - arm opener


That's why it's important to loosen up this area whenever it starts to feel tight. Foam rollers are an excellent way to loosen up your thoracic spine and reduce pain. Using a foam roller won't just help your upper back โ€“ it'll also affect your entire body.

1๏ธโƒฃ Place a foam roller on the floor length ways and lie on top of the roller with it running down the centre of your spine.
2๏ธโƒฃ Bend your knees and find the neutral position on the roller.
3๏ธโƒฃ Holding this position, raise your arms up towards the ceiling.
4๏ธโƒฃ Your palms should face in towards one another and fingers should point to the ceiling.
5๏ธโƒฃ Drop your arms out to the side, feeling the stretch across the front of your chest.
6๏ธโƒฃ Bring them back up to the vertical position, pointing to the ceiling.
7๏ธโƒฃ Repeat, dropping your arms out to the sides again.
8๏ธโƒฃ Ensure your upper and lower back do not move from the neutral position.
9๏ธโƒฃ It helps to gently tighten your abdominal muscles to control this.

Stand up straight.
Place your affected foot forwards with your foot flat on the floor.

Hamstring Strain
is a common injury in athletes and can happen in different severities. The 3 grades of hamstring injury are:
grade 1 โ€“ a mild muscle pull or strain.
grade 2 โ€“ a partial muscle tear
grade 3 โ€“ a complete muscle tear

The length of time it takes to recover from a hamstring strain or tear will depend on how severe the injury is.

A minor muscle pull or strain (grade 1) may take a few days to heal, whereas it could take weeks or months to recover from a muscle tear (grade 2 or 3).
