After graduating from Jit Sin High School (Bukit Mertajam), Dr. Gunn Peng Seok obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from University of Malaya in 1998. He completed the Basic Science Assessment in Ophthalmology in 2001, followed by the Clinical Sciences Assessment in Ophthalmology in 2003. In 2005, he was subsequently awarded Master of Surgery (Ophthalmology) by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Dr. Gunn brings with him a wealth of working experiences:
1998 to 1999 – Hospital Alor Setar, Kedah as House Officer;
1999 to 2000 – Klinik Kesihatan Guar Chempedak, Kedah as Medical and Health Officer;
2000 to 2005 – Ophthalmology Department, Hospital Alor Setar as Medical Officer. As Dr. Gunn pursued his specialist qualification between 2001 to 2005, he has contributed his expertise to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as a Master student under Ophthalmology Training Programme. Dr. Gunn officially commenced his specialist role as an Ophthalmologist:

June 2005 – Hospital Alor Setar, Kedah;
July 2005 to Feb 2006 – Hospital Kuala Lumpur;
March to November 2006 – Hospital Sungai Petani, Kedah;
December 2006 – Metro Specialist Hospital, Sg Petani ;
2011 to 2021 – KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital, Bukit Mertajam;
March 2021 to date – GPS Eye Specialist Centre, Sunway Wellesley, Bukit Mertajam. Dr. Gunn was a volunteer doctor during Tzu Chi Compassion Relief Foundation charity medical mission in Sri Lanka (2010), Sumatra, Indonesia (2011) and Kathmandu, Nepal (2015). He also participates in various medical missions overseas (Nepal, Qinghai) and locally (Penang and Kedah) on a regular basis.
