Our centre is now ERAS® certified for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) — marking a new benchmark in perioperative care, faster recovery, and improved patient outcomes.

Being among the very first in Malaysia to achieve this certification reflects our continuous commitment to evidence-based practice, innovation, and excellence in joint replacement surgery.

This places our centre at the forefront of ERAS-driven knee replacement care in Malaysia — reflecting a highly structured, evidence-based approach to surgery and recovery that is still not widely established in the region.

For me, this goes beyond certification. It represents a continued pursuit of excellence — integrating surgical precision, advanced technologies including robotic-assisted techniques, and optimised perioperative pathways to deliver faster recovery, enhanced safety, and more predictable outcomes.

As orthopaedic care continues to evolve, our focus remains clear: to elevate every aspect of the patient journey and bring world-class standards closer to home.

Been busy lately — apologies for not posting regularly here.

Throwback to 22–23 January 2026 in Munich for the Knee Revision Instructional Course again.

It was truly refreshing to be a student again, learning and exchanging ideas alongside great surgeons from around the world. Always grateful for the opportunity to keep improving and refining our craft.

Surgery 25.9.2025

This 69-year-old gentleman had a left total hip replacement in 2000, which was later complicated by a periprosthetic femoral shaft fracture in 2010, requiring a revision stem and cable ties.

He came to me recently with progressive pain and discomfort in his left hip. On assessment, we found that the metal femoral head had worn through the polyethylene liner and acetabular cup.

I revised the acetabular cup using a cemented polymer cup and successfully changed the metal head while preserving the femoral stem.

Remarkably, he was walking with a walker the very next day and was discharged home just two days later.

这位 69 岁的男病人于 2000 年接受左侧全髋关节置换术。
大约在 2010 年，他因 假体周围股骨骨折 再次接受了 修复手术，植入修复型股骨柄并使用钢缆固定。

最近他因 左髋逐渐加重的疼痛与不适 前来就诊。检查发现，金属股骨头已经磨损了聚乙烯内衬以及髋臼杯。

我为他进行了 髋臼杯修复术，采用 骨水泥固定的聚合物杯，并成功更换了股骨头，同时 保留了股骨柄。

令人欣慰的是，他在 术后第二天便能借助助行器行走，并在 术后两天出院。

Pembedahan 25.9.2025

Pesakit lelaki berumur 69 tahun ini telah menjalani penggantian pinggul kiri (total hip replacement) pada tahun 2000.
Pada tahun 2010, beliau mengalami patah tulang femur di sekitar implan (periprosthetic fracture) dan telah menjalani pembedahan semula dengan batang implan gantian serta kabel penahan.

Beliau datang berjumpa saya baru-baru ini dengan sakit dan ketidakselesaan progresif di pinggul kiri. Hasil pemeriksaan mendapati bahawa kepala femur logam telah menyebabkan haus pada lapisan polietilena dan cawan acetabular.

Saya melakukan pembedahan semula pada cawan acetabular menggunakan cawan polimer dengan teknik simen serta berjaya menukar kepala logam, sambil mengekalkan batang femur yang sedia ada.

Menariknya, beliau sudah boleh berjalan dengan walker pada keesokan harinya dan discaj pulang hanya dua hari selepas pembedahan.

Grateful to reconnect with old friends and make new ones within the anaesthetic community — your dedication continues to inspire.
