🩺✨ When Dying Skills Saved Lives
A Powerful Multidisciplinary Discussion

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, School of Medical Sciences, USM successfully hosted a compelling Clinicopathological Conference on 16 April 2026, bringing together experts across specialties for an engaging and thought-provoking session.

Titled “When Dying Skills Saved Lives,” discussing on the real life event occurred to our patients and prompt management by our dedicated doctors. The conference captivated 300+ attendees with a dynamic discussion highlighting critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and the strength of multidisciplinary collaboration in saving lives of the patients.

The session was expertly chaired by Dr Ahmad Amir bin Ismail, with insightful presentations delivered by:

Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Prof. Dr. Zalina Nusee and the entire IIUM community on this profound loss.

Prof. Dr. Zalina was not only a respected academic and leader, but also a remarkable figure in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology fraternity in Malaysia. Her dedication to women’s health, passion for teaching, and commitment to mentoring generations of doctors have left a lasting impact on the O&G community nationwide.

Her passing is a great loss not only to her family and institution, but also to the entire Malaysian O&G fraternity who benefited from her knowledge, guidance, and kindness.

May Allah SWT grant her the highest place in Jannah, forgive her shortcomings, and reward her for all the good she has done. May her family and loved ones be granted strength, patience, and comfort during this difficult time.

Medical Curriculum Committee Visit to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department received a visit from the Medical Curriculum Committee as part of the ongoing review and quality assurance of the undergraduate medical programme. The visit aimed to evaluate the alignment of the department’s teaching activities with the approved curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies.

During the visit, the committee reviewed curriculum content, teaching and learning methods, student assessment processes, and available clinical learning resources. Discussions were held with departmental faculty members regarding undergraduate teaching structure, student supervision, and feedback mechanisms. The committee also reviewed documentation related to course outlines, teaching schedules, and assessment plans.

Overall, the committee noted that the Obstetrics and Gynaecology undergraduate curriculum is appropriately structured and delivered. Teaching activities provide adequate clinical exposure and support the development of essential knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes required of medical graduates.

Recommendations from the visit will be considered to further enhance curriculum delivery and ensure continuous improvement in undergraduate medical education.

It is our pleasure to host the DrObGyn/MOG/MMed Speciality Examination Part 2 Clinical and Final Examination (Clinical) NPMC curriculum at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 23–26 November 2025.

This important event brought together dedicated candidates, examiners, and faculty in a professional and supportive environment, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Malaysia, amongst USM-UM-UKM-IIUM-KKM.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the organising committee, all ushers and support staff for their tireless efforts in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the examination.

The Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC) titled “Cracking the Mystery of the Disappearing Cycle” organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, was a resounding success.

Held on 18 September 2025 via Webex, the session attracted an impressive turnout of 203 participants, reflecting the strong interest and engagement from both faculty and students.

The discussion was skillfully chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Pazudin Bin Ismail, with valuable insights from

Each birth on this historic date carries special meaning, as families and staff alike are reminded of the nation’s journey toward unity, resilience, and hope. The arrival of these little ones not only marks a joyous occasion for their parents but also highlights the dedication and compassion of the O&G team in ensuring safe deliveries.
