Hello, hello, it's been a long while since I last posted. I had issues with my website. Forgot to back it up and found it very very difficult to get it back up again. Anyway, now that the lockdown has been lifted and we're all emerging from our cocoons, it's time to take stock!!

Many of us, including myself have put on weight as we ate and ate and couldn't go out for exercise, like hitting the gym or swimming in the pools. Now we can do that again. So how many of you are returning to your former routines?

I've resumed my walking but not in the park as I'm afraid to go where there are many people and where people seldom keep to the SOPs where we're supposed to be between 1-2 meters apart from the next person. People tend to cluster even in small groups because they want to talk to their friends and that is a no-no for me as the virus variants in the air are still a big threat to everyone.

I would suggest cutting down on the portions of food and exercise more. Set small goals within reasonable time frames so that they are achievable.

Avoid thinking about diets
There are no good food nor any bad foods. All
food can be a part of a healthy diet, when eaten
in moderation. You don't need to buy any low
carb, fat free, or even diet foods, as these foods
normally have lots of other added ingredients
to replace the carbohydrates or fat.
You just need to eat healthy meaning you have to
make the right choices when it comes to food and
drink.

It's the Lunar New Year which Chinese communities celebrate for 15 days!! Everyday there's feasting & celebrating!!
This is when weight watchers put their diet programs on hold. It's a whirl of merry making & eating, catching up with friends & relatives & of course yam seng!! Toasting!!
After the 15 days we will quietly go back to our exercise & diet programs! With determination & discipline it will be just a matter of time before we return to our pre-new year weight!
Remember small goals that are achievable!!

The way you prepare your food also has a bearing on your weightloss target. If you use butter to fry your food you're adding on more calories.
It would be better to steam your vegetables or blanch them. It's also healthier!

Didn't know that this spice is good for weight loss! Tumeric or what we call kunyit metabolises body fat by decreasing fat storage rate in our liver cells. We can add tumeric in our diet in different ways. Coat fish with it before frying. Can also do the same for chicken and of course it is used in curries! Meehoon can also be fried with tumeric.

Have you tried going on the treadmill to lose weight? The machine can be set up to go at a certain rate, e.g. 6 km per hour and you ease yourself into that speed. Begin at a lower speed and when you have warmed up, then increase the speed.
Those who are fit and are accustomed to its use can even run on the treadmill without the need to hold on.
It makes you sweat and burn calories. After 40 minutes on it, you should slow down the speed and ease off.
I found this to be an invigorating exercise and it helps me to maintain my weight, if not reduce it.
