One of the most unpleasant aspects of menstruation is menstruation.
Most women - studies suggest up to 80% - experience pain or discomfort before and during their menstruation, and this is mainly due to the uterus (womb) contracting to get rid of the lining of the uterus.
This pain, which feels like menstruation, is something that is commonly experienced when menstruation is about to arrive.
Typically, it lasts for a day or two. It can occur in the pelvis, back, thighs or abdomen.
Menstrual pain usually begins to be felt right below the navel and spreads towards your thighs and back.
The severity of these menstrual cramps is different for each woman.
In some cases, it is a mild pain. In other cases, it can be severe and can even cause vomiting.
Other symptoms include runny stools, headache and dizziness. Definitely NOT FUN.
Knowing how to stop menstrual cramps will greatly affect a woman's feelings towards her menstruation.
While most women find that menstrual pain is negligible, there are a few SIMPLE STEPS that will help alleviate it.
Over -the -counter painkillers can stop menstrual cramps that have just started, but they should not be taken on an empty stomach, or taken with a glass of milk, to protect the lining of the stomach.
And while it’s not something you want to do at the time, exercise - even just walking - helps improve blood circulation, oxygen levels and endorphin levels (painkillers and natural good taste hormones).
All this helps the body to relax. Massage and heat will also loosen your muscles, so a hot shower, or bathing using a hot water bottle is recommended.
Ice cream can also help - not medically, but just to make you feel happy.
In some cases, painful menstruation or dysmenorrhea - can cause problems in your life.
One study reported that up to 14% of women were unable to go out to work due to menstrual pain.
But there is no need to suffer. If your menstrual cramps are severe, see a doctor. Sometimes, menstrual pain is caused by a hidden health condition, such as endometriosis or pelvic inflammation.
