Does your eyes feel Dry, Itchy, Blurry, or Tired?

While much convenience has been attained from technology, the cons should be discussed as well, especially blue light in relation to our health, as it can slowly damage our eyes, affect our sleep and brain functions.
These problems aren’t common 20 years ago when the internet didn’t have as much content as today, now we spend long hours on our smartphone 📱 for networking on social media, laptop 💻 for work and virtual meetings, iPad 🖥 and television 📺 for entertainment.

This is the world we live in now, Eyeing on SCREENS.

Last week, my iPhone notified me that I had spent an average of 9 hours daily on my phone’s screen time, not including laptop, TV, and camera operating screen time.
🎥 As a camera operator, my eyes are very important for work, and I’m sure most of us can say the same.

In order to maintain a good vision and avoid eye problems in the future, here are 4 ways to protect our eyes:
1. Wear Anti-Blue Light Glasses ✅
- This will reduce the blue light that enters our eyes. (But, blue light is still able to enter from the sides and times when we’re not wearing the glasses)

2. Using the Eyes in a Brightly Lit Room ✅
- Looking directly at a bright source of light(glare) in a dark room will strain our eyes as our eyes adjust for the exposure in between the brightest and the darkest, so always read or work in an adequately lit room to reduce the workload on the eyes.

3. Looking at Greenery Can Relax the Eyes ✅
- Take 15 minute breaks in between the screen time to relax your eyes by looking at green plants as research shows that the colour green is very soothing for the eyes, which reduces straining, at the same time get some fresh air!

4. Get the Right Nutrition for Your Eyes (Protection from the inside-out) ✅
- Vitamin A & C slows down eyes' degeneration, Gummy Vzio is a Blackcurrent-flavoured gummy with the recommended dietary ratio of Lutein:Zeaxanthin(5:1) by the US National Eye Institute to FILTER blue light, PROTECT, and REBUILD the cells in our eyes.

Had my 1st Dose of Sinovac on Wednesday(30 June 2021) and it has been more than 48 hours.

Initially I planned to take the vaccine only when it’s necessary, such as travelling overseas. But since the government keeps messing up the timeline of flattening the curve, my hopes for the hikes, the bouldering sessions, the dining in, seemed far away. The government is the one setting the terms of the lockdowns, and since we’re not changing governments anytime soon, getting huge numbers of vaccination will be the only way to end these failing lockdowns ASAP.

Anyways, on Wednesday I received a sms around 11am in the morning of a 3pm vaccination slot and I confirmed the info via Mysejahtera, the whole vaccination process took less than an hour as I reached an hour earlier of my intended slot(a huge crowd started arriving after). As I walked through the halls and passed the checkpoints, I felt as if there was HOPE that the situation in the country will be better soon, it seemed like an apocalyptic scenario that we only see in the movies, or maybe the staffs/volunteers were pleasant.

The 0.5ml injection wasn’t painful at all, and the post-affects were light numbness/soreness on the point of injection(left deltoid), I was still able to lift up my arms, nothing much was affected.
Another thing I noticed after the injection was having mild dry throat, so keeping myself hydrated every hour solved that problem. So far so good.

Since Sinovac is an inactivated vaccine, i’m not sure if the 2nd Dose three weeks from now will have a bigger reaction compared to the 1st dose, or only activated if the virus is present.

Either way, it’s important to maintain your own health condition(prevention of the common chronic illnesses) so that the body is able to withstand the vaccine’s post-affects or the virus’ symptoms.

Who else miss going on hikes early in the morning during the weekends? 🙌 🙌 🙌

Catching the sunrise at the peak, getting the cardio training, the company, and the breakfast after the hikes are some of the things I look forward to!

✅ As a lot of us are WFH, be sure to get at least 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning(while it's not as hot) as Vitamin D is crucial to our bodies' Immune Response as well as Bone Metabolism.
✅ Remember to drink loads of Water and get some fresh air outdoors as the Oxygen indoors are definitely insufficient especially when all family members are at home!

2020 has been tough for various reasons, and every workout session that I have committed has helped me tremendously in coping with my state of mind. Endorphins is just one of the benefits out of many benefits of exercising, more on this topic in a future post!

Located behind Zoo Negara, this hill reminds me of Tabur(minus the water reservoir) because of the forming of the rocks. As the route uphill is pretty straight forward(passing through bamboos), reaching the peak only takes about 30 minutes.
