Among all the events throughout the year, this forum stands out as a special one because it focuses on Gen Z at work, a generational cohort I encounter frequently in many of my professional roles. It was such a pleasure to engage in a valuable exchange of ideas with two industry experts: Dr. Alizi, a consultant organizational psychologist, and Ms. Hery Dehaan, an HR specialist. It was equally delightful to interact with current psychology undergraduate students, hoping to enrich their understanding of ethics as they prepare for their future careers.
Gen Z has grown up in a unique environment. While they share certain characteristics as a generation, many of the negative labels attributed to them—especially those amplified by the media—are often individual cases rather than generational truths. As the world continues to evolve, we should not expect young people to adhere to values that may no longer create the best opportunities for their lives. While maintaining ethical standards in the workplace remains crucial across generations, it is equally important for employers to transform their ways of working to attract and retain genuine talent.
