🚨 Pregnant / Breastfeeding?
Not All “Anti-Infective” Medicines Are Safe.
Many moms think “lozenges, antifungal cream, antibiotic = same one”.
But pregnancy & breastfeeding need extra caution. Refer to this PBMG chart👇
💚 GREEN = SAFE
(Amoxicillin, Augmentin, Cefalexin, Clotrimazole, Nystatin, Permethrin, etc.)
→ These are generally safe across pregnancy stages & breastfeeding.
🟧 YELLOW/ORANGE = USE WITH CAUTION
(Azithromycin, Clarithromycin, Metronidazole, Mebendazole…)
→ May be safe in some trimesters but NOT all. Always check with pharmacist.
🔴 RED = AVOID
(Fluconazole oral, Griseofulvin, Albendazole in 1st tri)
→ Potential risk to baby’s development. Do NOT self-medicate.
💡 Pharmacist Reminder:
Even “topical” or “lozenge” forms can affect pregnancy safety.
Always confirm with your pharmacist before taking ANY anti-infective.
