The Rotary Club of Kuching Central (RCKC), the Rotary Club of Singapore East (RCSE), and the Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS) have launched the “Heart Safe City Kuching” initiative to enhance public health and safety. ❤️
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed this morning, officiated by Deputy Premier, YB Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, marks the start of a pilot project to improve cardiovascular emergency preparedness.
Five Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) will be installed at high-traffic locations, including Friendship Park, Stutong Market, Kenyalang Market, MBKS Headquarters, and the Indoor Stadium. These devices, vital during cardiac emergencies, aim to save lives.
The project includes training community members and MBKS staff on AED use and basic life-saving techniques. RCKC, supported by RCSE, will procure and donate the AEDs, while MBKS oversees approvals, installation, and maintenance.
Public workshops and awareness campaigns will promote emergency readiness. This pilot is the first step towards a broader vision to expand AED coverage citywide, ensuring greater access to life-saving resources for Kuching residents.
RCKC extends its gratitude to the Mayor of Kuching South, YBhg Dato WEE HONG SENG 黄鸿圣, for his unwavering support in making this initiative a reality.
