Management of Aggressive Patients in MOH Facilities
An annual course was conducted by the Psychiatric Department of Hospital Lahad Datu (HLDU) on the 30th of April at Asrama Jururawat HLDU. The aim and objectives of this course is to enhance the participant’s knowledge and confidence in handling aggressive patients, effective documentation and incident reporting as well as reducing the risk and incidence of aggressive patients cases in HLDU.
Our department wholeheartedly welcome every healthcare workers including the medical officers, assistant medical officers, staff nurse and healthcare assistant of HLDU and healthcare facilities in the district of Lahad Datu.
5 topic was presented by the MOs of Psychiatric Department HLDU:
1. Dr Priscilla Perinbam A/P Peter Naina - “Introduction, Objectives, Acts & Regulations”
2. Dr Lim De Na - “Stages of aggression, Risk Factors and Risk Assessment”
3. Dr Nik Muhammad Adam - “De-escalation Technique”
4. Dr Nurhazzreen binti Haris - “Pharmacological Intervention”
5. Dr Muzammil bin Abdul Rahman - “Action Card, Documentation & Monitoring, Debriefing, Incident Reporting, Special Situation and Case Vignettes”
Besides these 5 topic, a practical session was also conducted in collaboration lead by Tawau General Hospital (TGH) Breakaway Team (SN Nurul Asidah, SN Mohd Rafie, SN Azizi, SN Nur Shaqinah, PPK Mohd Nazri) and HLDU Psychiatric Team (Chief Mohd Shah, AMO Mohd Harfizie, AMO Mohd Haizan)
