Taxus chinensis, also known as “Chinese yew”, is an ancient tree species which has existed on earth since 2.5 million years ago. Taxus chinensis is protected by law in China as it is an endangered and slow growing plant. It is known as “the last line of defense in the treatment against cancer” due to its natural anti-cancer properties. The chemotherapy drug Paclitaxel is derived from the bark and leaves of the yew.

红豆杉、又名“紫杉”，是地球上已有250万年历史的古老树种。红豆杉在中国受法律保护属于濒危、生长缓慢的植物，由于其天然的抗癌特性，它被誉为“治疗癌症的最后一道防线”。化疗药物紫杉醇是从红豆杉的树皮和叶子中提取的。
