Let’s Bust Some Common Asthma Myths! 💨
There’s a lot of confusion when it comes to asthma. Let’s clear the air 👇
🔴 MYTH 1: If you’re not wheezing, it’s not asthma
✅ FACT: Wheezing is a common asthma symptom, but not always present.
In fact, during a severe asthma flare, airflow may be so restricted that no wheeze can be heard—even with a stethoscope! So, never judge asthma control based on wheezing alone.
🔴 MYTH 2: Inhaled steroids are addictive
✅ FACT: Inhaled corticosteroids are the gold standard for long-term asthma control and are not addictive.
They reduce airway inflammation safely when used as prescribed. Think of them like your daily vitamins for your lungs—consistent use keeps symptoms away.
🔴 MYTH 3: I don’t need a spacer with my inhaler
✅ FACT: If you're using a metered dose inhaler (MDI), a spacer is highly recommended.
Without it, much of the medicine ends up in your throat or mouth—especially if timing isn’t perfect. A spacer ensures more medicine reaches deep into your lungs where it’s actually needed.
💡 Don’t let myths get in the way of better breathing.
Always follow your doctor’s advice—and use your inhalers the right way.
