OPEN LETTER TO MALAYSIA NURSING BOARD, KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN, KEMENTERIAN PENDIDIKAN AND JABATAN PERDANA MENTERI:
PLEASE PROTECT MALAYSIAN AND LICENSED NURSES IN THIS COUNTRY.
WHAT is a nurse? What is our value in Malaysia? Everyday we risk our life, family and health serving the people. We are paid low, overworked. Ever wonder why our nurses are leaving the country and people from other country are coming in? MONEY. Face the facts, we have family to provide for and to survive as cost of living has risen. I want to hightlight to LJM about private nursing and nursing/old folks home. There is no proper guideline in these area of work and many foreigners are coming in with visitor visa but doing private nursing without proper documentations. Companies are not monitored and also no proper training for caregivers. Not only physical training but the scientific knowledge of doing things the way they are done are important too but they are not emphasized I've seen many caregivers who have years of experience but doing things the wrong way, this in turn affects patient care. Another thing I want to highlight is INTEGRITY. Not many caregivers or staff nurse care about the private company they are working at and sometimes deal on their own, some take another person's job. To work as a CG or staff nurse legally, you need approval and yearly licence from MALAYSIA NURSING BOARD, which sadly I don't see that happening here and the deserving people don't get jobs.
WHO WILL TAKE ACTION?
