Safety
Fenugreek is on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's GRAS list (Generally Recognized as Safe)

Fenugreek is not to be used during pregnancy as it can be a uterine stimulant. However it is still safe to consume curry that has been spiced by fenugreek.

Possible side-effects
Sweat and urine smells like maple syrup; milk and/or breastfed baby may smell like maple syrup.
Occasionally causes loose stools, which go away when fenugreek is discontinued.
Use of more than 100 grams of fenugreek seeds daily can cause intestinal distress and nausea (recommended dose is less than 8 grams, or 8000mg per day).
Ingestion of fenugreek seeds or tea in infants or late-term pregnant women can lead to false diagnosis of maple syrup urine disease in the infant due to presence of sotolone in the urine.

Other uses of Fenugreek
Fenugreek has been used traditionally to treat diabetes, coughs, congestion, bronchitis, sinus condition, fever, high blood pressure, headaches/migraines, diarrhea, flatulence, anaemia, irregular menstrual cycles and arthritis, to ease labor pains and menstruation pain, and as an appetite stimulant. Fenugreek has also been used as an external poultice to control inflammation and dandruff.

Amazingly, besides increasing milk production in nursing mothers, fenugreek has an age-old reputation as a breast enlarger. It may also aid in increasing sexual desire in women as well as increasing breast beauty and health. It is also helpful in calming PMS and symptoms of menopause. Fenugreek is also considered to be an aphrodiasiac and rejuvenator.

The effective dosage of fenugreek to increase breastmilk supply is 3 capsules 3 times a day. Most mommies see results within 1 - 3 days. If after 3 days there does not seem like much improvement, then increase to 5 capsules 3 times a day. A number of mommies see results only after 2 – 4 weeks of consistent usage.

We would also like to remind you that you do have to consistently stimulate your breast by either direct feeding your baby or pumping frequently. Never go more than 4 hours without removing milk from your breast. And when trying to increase supply, you should also DL/pump at around 3 am. This is because between 12 - 5am is the time that the hormone prolactin is secreted the most. Prolactine is the hormone responsible for more milk production the next day.

Nature’s Love Fenugreek is 80% grounded seeds and 20% extract of the active ingredient saponin (it's like extracting Vitamin C from an orange, so you don’t have to eat 10 oranges to get your 500mg of Vitamin C). Saponin is the active ingredient responsible to increase milk production. Thus, Nature’s Love Fenugreek is more potent compared to other brands.
The effective dosage of fenugreek to increase breastmilk supply is 3 capsules 3 times a day. Most mommies see results within 1 - 3 days.
