When I was a student, I only had 4 months to explore pediatric physio. ⏳

I remember wishing I could:
• See how therapy adapts across different settings
• Witness those magical "aha!" moments when skills click
• Understand the real rhythm of pediatric care

Then, I have the chance to work in a clinic with all children caseload.

It was a steep learning curve, but also the best decision ever.

Every day, I get to:
✨ Play while making an impact (yes, it counts as work!).
✨ See kids with different needs blossom in their own way.
✨ Work in clinics, homes, even schools-- no two days are the same!

Now, I want to open that door for YOU. 🚪💛

If you’re a:
➡️ Physio student (or recent grad!) curious about pediatrics…
➡️ Therapist wanting to explore new settings…
➡️ Anyone who loves kids & wants to learn…

Come shadow me! You’ll get to:
✅ See real cases in clinics, homes & schools.
✅ Learn hands-on.

Three Spoons of Courage: Why Special Needs Teachers Are Everyday Heroes

Meet a bright 7-year-old at Sunnybank Hills Special Needs School who taught me a powerful lesson - progress isn't always linear, but it's always worth celebrating.

For weeks, this little warrior refused to eat from school plates, overwhelmed by the bustling dining hall.

Then I witnessed his teachers work their magic:

🍎 Week 1: Patient presence - his teacher sat beside him with his familiar lunchbox. One tentative spoonful, then he needed to walk away.

🍎 Week 2: Brave transition - a school plate swaped with his trusted lunchbox. One spoon, a walk, then - amazingly - he returned for another.

🍎 Week 4: Group breakthrough - sitting with peers, he managed three whole spoonfuls before needing his movement break.

What might seem small to others was monumental progress.

This is special education at its finest:
✅ Patience measured in months, not minutes
✅ Transforming "I can't" into "I'll try" through patient consistency
✅ Celebrating every step forward, no matter how small

I'm privileged to work alongside these miracle-workers daily. Now, we're looking to grow our team of extraordinary educators.

Hiring Special Needs Teachers who:

🔹 Believe a child’s “three spoons” moment is worth a standing ovation,
🔹 Can pivot from academic goals to life skills (like eating) without missing a beat
🔹 Partner with therapists to build bridges for kids like this boy.

Know someone with this kind of heart? Tag them below or DM – let’s grow this village.

To all the educators who show up day after day, turning "impossible" into "I'll try" -- thank you for your tireless work.

The world needs more of you. 💙

Did you know that baby neck floats can put traction forces on your little one’s delicate neck and spine? 🛑

While they may seem cute and "supportive," they can actually cause unnecessary strain and misalignment. ❌

A Mother's Choice:

In our field, most therapists are women.

Beyond discussing our cases, there’s one question that often comes up- "Are you afraid of having a child with special needs?"

Or an even tougher one- "If you were pregnant and found out your baby had a syndrome, would you still give birth?"

It’s a hard question.

There’s no right or wrong answer.

I once met a mother raising a child with Down syndrome. I asked if she had known before giving birth.

She nodded. “Yes, I knew.”

She told me how torn she was, stuck between two impossible choices.

“Every time I thought about abortion, I cried. But when I didn’t, I felt okay.”

Her words struck me deeply.

As she shared, I could see the weight of her journey in her eyes, and for a moment, I almost teared up myself. It’s not an easy path, choosing to raise a child with different needs. The uncertainty, the fear, the doubts- they were all real.

But she chose love.

And while the road may be tough, she is not alone.

Because when we walk this journey together, it becomes a little lighter.

A Moment of Reflection in Today’s Session 🧡

Today’s session wasn’t just about milestones or exercises, it was about something much deeper. As I was guiding a little one through their therapy, I caught a glimpse of something that gave me pause: the baby’s mom, quietly wiping away her tears.

It was a subtle moment, but it hit me hard.

In that instant, I found myself at a loss.

As a pediatric physiotherapist, my primary focus is on helping babies achieve their physical milestones—rolling, sitting, crawling.

But today, I was reminded that parents are going through their own emotional journey alongside their child. It’s not always easy to know the right thing to say or do when emotions run high, and today I felt that challenge deeply.

I could see how much this mom wanted the best for her child, the weight of her hopes, worries, and perhaps even her exhaustion.

It’s a feeling I’ve witnessed many times before, but each time, it strikes a chord in me.

I’m here to support these families, but in moments like these, I realize that support extends far beyond the physical progress we make in therapy.

I wish I had the perfect words to offer comfort, but sometimes, just being present is all we can do.

This job is full of mixed emotions—there’s joy and pride in seeing a child meet their milestones, but there’s also the quiet weight of the struggles parents face, the fear of the unknown, and the hopes they hold onto so tightly.

Today was a reminder that the journey we’re on is not just about strengthening muscles or improving motor skills—it’s about supporting families as they navigate the highs and lows of parenthood.

And while I may not always have the answers, I’m grateful to be a part of that journey, even in the emotional moments.

To all the parents out there, your strength and love for your children is something truly inspiring, and it’s a privilege to walk alongside you in this process🧡
