A young man was walking past a Diwali pasar malam when sparks from nearby fireworks flew onto his face and ear, causing burns. Initially, he visited a GP for a simple dressing โ but two days later, pain and fever set in.
When he came to me, the wound had already become infected. I performed debridement (removal of dead, damaged and infected tissue) and started him on antibiotics to stop the infection and promote healing.
๐ A reminder this festive season: even small burns can turn serious if not properly treated. Early wound care, cleaning, and medical follow-up can prevent complications and scarring.
