Sunway University, Centre for Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Management diploma in events management students together with Regal Orchestra will be organising a concert that features a modern twist in Chinese traditional music. As part of the diploma curriculum, students will gain valuable experience and knowledge as they will be working with a real-life client to organise an actual event. The main aim of the event is to cultivate interest in Chinese traditional music especially the Chinese harp (Gu Zheng) amongst the youth. Regal Orchestra seeks to expose and promote traditional Chinese music not only among music enthusiast but also to reach out and create awareness to the younger generation. Through its on-going endeavours, Regal Orchestra aims to preserve Chinese culture in all its diversity, spreading its richness to various sectors. One of these prestigious awards they have won is the ‘Gold of Honours’ award in 2009. In doing their bit for community and to achieve the aim of the concert, the organisers will be giving out more than 200 tickets to the community. Most of these seats will be generously given to youth in the Ti Ratana Welfare Home. This concert will be held on the 28 June, 2014 at the SJKC Chung Kwo auditorium in Jalan Loke Yew. There will be two shows on the day of the event, 3pm- 4.30pm and 8pm- 9.30pm. The songs composed are a mixture of new age and traditional Chinese music.
