Betul ke berkumur dengan ubat kumur boleh bunuh COVID-19?

Benda ni hangat beberapa hari ni.

Macam ini. Saya terangkan dari sudut pergigian.

Di klinik gigi, kami dah practice benda ini. Sebelum buat rawatan yang menghasilkan aerosol (tampalan, scaling), kita akan minta pesakit berkumur dulu dengan ubat kumur. Kalau anda buat rawatan gigi, tak ada dapat benda ni, minta dengan doktor gigi anda.

Benda ini ada dalam garis panduan yang dikeluarkan bahagian pergigian KKM. Benda ini adalah sebagai langkah untuk mencegah penyebaran virus COVID-19 bila buat rawatan yang menghasilkan aerosol.

Ingat, benda ini sebagai langkah PENCEGAHAN. Bukan rawatan untuk COVID-19. Sama macam kita gunakan hand sanitizer. Sama macam kita basuh tangan dengan sabun.

Ubat kumur ada povidine iodine, ada chlorohexidine.
Hand sanitizer ada alkohol.
Bahan-bahan ini sememangnya digunakan untuk membunuh virus dan bakteria di permukaan.

Persoalannya sekarang, virus COVID-19 ada dalam tubuh badan orang yang dijangkiti. Macam mana dengan berkumur sahaja boleh hapuskan virus ni. Berapa kali kena berkumur baru boleh bebas dari virus ni.

Memang ada kajian berkaitan penggunaan bahan ini dan kaitannya dengan virus COVID-19, tapi hingga hari ini masih belum ada apa-apa bukti penggunaan ubat kumur merawat sepenuhnya virus ini.

Kalau nak berkumur dengan ubat kumur ini, silakan. Dari sudut pergigian, memang kita sangat galakkan. Tapi bukan buat tuntutan untuk merawat COVID-19.
