Opening the windows to allow the invigorating northwind to freshen up the house.
I remember how 30 years ago , with the same north wind blowing, a young horse I took along on an outride on a lead, fully saddled, started bucking from sheer exuberance and the saddle exploded into thousand pieces. My horse also started jumping around and I had to let go of the leading reign. Exilaration and adrenalin were pumping through our systems .
By the time we had let off our steam we felt so alive and laughed at our jumping joker who finally trotted back to us and we realised that we couldn't salvage anything besides the stirrups. WHY.?
A friend of mine had given me the saddle as it had been lying around her house for 15 years. She had never oiled it or taken care of it with Dubbin and thus it became so brittle that it could not hold up to the force of the bucking horse.
Right now we need to oil and maintain our physical and particularly our mental health as to become more flexible in our thinking. As a chinese proverb says , we should rather "bend with the wind" instead of breaking by pushing against it. When you consciously take a step outside and "observe" you remain in charge.
Let's be honest. We spend a lot of time in our lives just cruising along. With every Covid related restriction we are given the chance to accept full responsibility for our daily lives. We decide to be either victims or take charge of our daily routine and create a meaningful way of feeding our body, mind and soul.
The north wind heralds the first signs of spring here in Swakopmund. I embrace it as it promises growth and a further step accomplished in the circle of life.
