She did it! 🏛️✨

A huge congratulations to our pioneering colleague and UNAM student, Gweni Muremi on successfully defending her Master’s Thesis – Title: Development of local diagnostic reference levels for routine mammography projections in Namibia: a cross-sectional study.

This win belongs to more than one person, and it deserves to be honored loudly!
A first for Gweni!
A first for ERAD!
A first for the Unam Faculty of Diagnostic Radiography!

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to witness this proud moment. And to the UNAM lecturers who prepared her for this day. A special thanks to the colleagues at Otjiwarongo ERAD who supported and stood by her through the long, stressful moments. It was worth it!

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone in the comments! 📻🎓👏

As we embark on Congenital Heart Defect Awareness & Week, today’s focus is on one of the most common congenital defects seen in neonates, particularly premature infants: Patent Ductus Arteriosus.

The Pathophysiology: In fetal life, the ductus arteriosus is vital—shunting blood away from the fluid-filled lungs. Normally, this closes within 48 hours of birth. When it remains patent (open), it creates a left-to-right shunt (Aorta → PA), leading to pulmonary over-circulation and potential volume overload.

While small PDAs may be asymptomatic, larger defects require intervention—often via transcatheter device closure, the gold standard for many patients today.

On World Cancer Day, we pause to recognise the importance of early diagnosis. đź©»

📝For many patients, the journey begins with a referral for imaging, a step that can feel daunting, but is ultimately empowering.

Different conditions require different tools. The path to diagnosis often involves specific modalities for specific organs:

➡️Ultrasound: Often the first line of defense for quick assessment.
➡️MRI: Essential for detailed soft tissue visualisation.
➡️CT Scans: Critical for evaluating size, spread, and structure.

At ERAD, we understand that behind every scan is a person looking for answers. We are committed to providing high quality imaging to assist physicians in detecting cancers of the gallbladder, liver, pancreas, and beyond.

Let’s close the care gap through awareness and precision.
