Ms Leibbrandt-de Villiers is currently registered with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA)and a member of DAN (Dietetic Association Namibia). The registration of a health professional with the appropriate regulatory body of the country he/ she is working in, is your assurance that they are appropriately qualified, keeping their knowledge and skills up to date and practicing within a
strict code of conduct. My background
I have been practicing as a Dietitian for 23 years. After qualifying as a Dietitian, I moved to the UK to further my studies and gain experience in Paediatric Dietetics. I completed the Modular Course in Paediatric Dietetics, endorsed by the British Dietetic Association. The modules are now incorporated into the MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Paediatric Dietetics) course, in partnership with the University of Plymouth. During this time, I worked to establish myself as a Clinical Paediatric Dietitian within the National Health Service of the UK. I was privilege to work at the prestigious King’s College Hospital as a Senior I Paediatric Dietitian in Hepatology from 2005 to 2008 and learned a lot from well-respected colleagues in the field of Paediatrics and Paediatric Dietetics. After spending 8 years in the UK, our family relocated to Windhoek, Namibia. In 2021, I completed the Post Graduate Program in Pediatric Nutrition at Boston University School of Medicine. In 2019, I travelled to Dublin with my husband, who is a General Practitioner with a special interest in Aesthetics and Integrative and Regenerative Medicine, to gain in practice experience from Prof. Sam van Eeden, who is a specialist in Regenerative, Functional and Precision Medicine leading the team at Nuacell Clinic. I developed a keen interest in Nutrigenomics and Functional, Integrative and Regenerative Medicine. Following this, I have attended two workshops in Integrative Medicine. However, what qualifies me more than anything else, are my two strong-willed and inspirational children, who became five in 2022. They keep me firmly grounded (and on my knees!), challenging all theory and knowledge I possess of, reminding me on a daily basis to be practical, realistic and in feel with the needs of the parents and patients I work with. What feeds my passion
The heart of Nutrizest Dietetics is to be a friendly resource of nutritional information and support for all patients. My aim is to create a place to share your stories, ask your questions, request assistance and find information that is evidence-based. I am passionate about helping clients and patients navigate through a wealth of nutritional information that is available to them. I have had the privilege of doing television interviews on various subjects of nutrition, speaking at various baby and toddler seminars and nursing symposiums around the country on infant and childhood nutrition. Nutrition in infancy and childhood is the foundation of health and development in later life. It even plays a vital role in IQ! Providing your child with a healthy balanced diet early on teaches positive eating habits and build the desirable relationships with food. Most illnesses have an impact on nutritional requirements and dietary intake. A Dietitian who has experience in Paediatric Dietetics, has the knowledge and skills to adapt, modify and tailor your child’s nutritional intake to ensure that they are receiving the appropriate amounts of nutrition and achieve optimal growth. All children grow up to become adults and I also offer individual consultations for all dietary-related conditions. I believe in a holistic approach to an individual’s health and wellbeing. Functional medicine seeks to identify and treat the underlying cause of your condition. It centers around the idea that one condition may have many causes or one cause can have many conditions. Integrative Medicine incorporates a wide range of therapies, including nutrition and lifestyle changes, mind-body techniques, and alternative medicine practices to improve health outcomes and prevent disease. Combining conventional medical treatments with evidence-based complementary therapies prioritise treating the whole person, addressing the underlying root causes of health issues, rather than just symptoms or disease. Regenerative medicine focuses on developing and applying new treatments to heal tissues and organs and restore function lost due to aging, disease, damage or defects, it uses your body's own natural healing mechanisms to regenerate damaged tissue or organs. Working with healthcare providers who seek to incorporate integrative and regenerative medicine into their approach, can help you achieve optimal health by providing personalised care that supports your unique health goals and helps you thrive. The application of the principles of Integrative and Functional Nutrition goes beyond basic dietary guidelines by incorporating digestive health and root causes for imbalance, while looking at environmental impact, genetic predisposition, physiological, and psychological factors for disease. It focuses on the patient instead of the disease and it is using a more personalised method of optimising patient health based on their individual genetics, lab values, lifestyle and more. I am an Accredited Practitioner of Geneway™️ genetic testing and Optiway™️ food sensitivity testing. Genetic testing opens up a whole new world of accurate and individual healthcare management. At present this is a service for which the patient needs to carry initial costs of testing, but this is the golden route to longevity!
