4 June is International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. The purpose of this day is to "acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse." In 2019, the Government of Namibia launched the Violence Against Children and Youth Survey. They found that one in ten females (11.8%) and one in thirteen males (7.3%) experienced sexual abuse before the age of 18, nearly one in three females (32.9%) and two in five males (41.2%) experienced physical violence before age 18, and one in ten females (11.4%) and one in thirteen males (7.8%) experienced emotional violence by a parent, caregiver, or adult relative in childhood. Let's stand up for and protect our children!

The theme for 2025 is "Raising Parents" - drawing attention to an essential, but often underappreciated reality: parenting is a learned skill. Parents and caregivers require time, resources, and support in order to raise children in a nurturing and positive environment. How amazing to know that we, as parents, have the privilege of influencing the future generation.

Deep down they know what is needed better than anyone else, including their therapist. Great therapists are only guides, helping the person ask the right questions and shape their own life. World Health Day, celebrated on 7 April 2025, will kick off a year-long campaign on maternal and newborn health. The campaign, titled Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures, will urge governments and the health community to ramp up efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths, and to prioritize women’s longer-term health and well-being. Postpartum depression affects the well-being of many new mothers. A big part of the fight against postpartum depression is educating yourself!!
