GridOnline's New Pricing Structure
GridOnline, NamPower's bulk data backhauling service adopted a new unified national pricing framework, ensuring access to digital infrastructure for the benefit of every Namibian. Previously, GridOnline operated on a cost-recovery pricing structure, based on fibre distance usage.
NamPower's Chief Operating Officer, Fritz Jacobs, who represented the company's Managing Director, Kahenge Haulofu, says, the new model is more than a pricing transformation, as it is about levelling the playing field and utilising the extensive and robust fibre network of NamPower to connect communities and serve as an enabling platform.
"We are adding services that will enable smaller operators to be competitive and to grow, to offer internet connectivity in under-served areas. With these innovations, GridOnline is positioning itself not simply as a network provider, but as a catalyst for digital growth, for business competitiveness, and for social inclusion," Jacobs added at the stakeholder event.
Also speaking at the event, Transmission Executive, Leandro Kapolo, reaffirmed NamPower’s commitment to expanding its network with a clear purpose, of being a driving force in bridging the digital divide and unlocking opportunities for every community through affordable and reliable connectivity.
"GridOnline is more than infrastructure. It is a promise of excellence, innovation, inclusivity and fairness. It is about creating pathways for growth, empowerment, and connection for generations to come. It is about enabling the 4th Industrial Revolution," Kapolo said.
GridOnline which was established in 2019, has evolved into an essential pillar of Namibia’s ICT infrastructure and a trusted platform for bulk data transmission.
