*DEEP MESSAGE*

I tasted all that is sweet, but I found nothing sweeter than good health.
I tasted all that was bitter, but nothing was more bitter than being in need of good people.
I carried both, iron and rocks, but nothing was heavier than debt.
I discovered that life comprises of two days; A day for you and a day against you. So when it is for you, do not be reckless; and when it is against you, be patient. Because both days will expire!

This is what we are talking about...

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

Optometrists across our various State chapters are already alligning with their various State Eye Health Committees to mark the World Sight Day, Thursday, October 13th, 2022.

Designated motor parks will be the venue for eye screening alongside other programs mapped out by the State Eye Health Committee.

This year, the Ministry of Transport, Road Transport Unions and the four professional eye care associations including Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria(OSN), Nigerian Ophthalmic Nurse's Association (NONA) and Association of Nigerian Dispensing Opticians (ANDO) are to work together to achieve this goal.

Optometrists across the various states are encouraged to think out of the box and come up with engaging programmes to mark that day. This is irrespective of the plan set aside by the State Eye Health Committee.

World Sight is always a great opportunity to make a great statement on the need for;

(i) Improved Eye Care,

(ii) Preventing Avoidable Blindness

(iii) Employment of Optometrists in the Public Sector and across board

(iv) Governments, to set aside more funds for Eye Care related Projects.

Eye care practitioners including Optometrists will provide free/sponsored or affordable eye care, eye health education and engage the media, political leaders and other stake holders.

The Action Plan or 2022 World Sight Day, from the Public Health Committee, Nigerian Optometric Association is already with your state chapter.

This is the time to start crossing your t's and dotting your i's.

Get involved with other Optometrists and SEHC in your area and make 2022 World Sight Day one of the best ever.

The collaboration with other eye health practitioners, this year, should not in away dampen our shine. Nigerian Optometrists are endeavoured to keep up and even step up our usual way of creating awareness for World Sight Day. In fact, we should play that vital role as we have always done in previous World Sight Day events.

In states where there are no State Eye Health Committees, NOA members are expected to take the lead and make things happen on World Sight Day.

Don't forget, the theme for this year, 2022 event is LOVE YOUR EYES.
