On behalf of the Chairman, Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Ololade Kehinde, and the entire Cancer Stakeholders Team, we sincerely appreciate everyone for your immense contributions toward the success of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities.

Our special appreciation goes to the Mobilization and Logistics Committee ably led by Dr. Ope Ojo Akinyemi for their dedication, coordination, and tireless efforts throughout the campaign period.

Warm greetings from the Secretariat,

As part of activities to wrap up this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Dr. Ololade Kehinde, extended its advocacy outreach today with breast cancer awareness talks at:

1.Sa’adatul Abadiyya Central Mosque, Leme, Abiola Way, Abeokuta

2.RCCG Jesus Love Area (Favour Family), beside Foodco, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta

The Society’s delegation was led by the Secretary, who represented the Chairman, alongside other dedicated stakeholders committed to promoting early detection and reducing the burden of breast cancer in Abeokuta and Ogun State at large.

This year’s campaign has been impactful and we remain committed to sustaining the momentum through continuous education, advocacy, and support for women and families.

Together, we can work towards a future where breast cancer is detected early , is treated effectively and lives are saved across our communities in Ogun State

DAY 3

As part of its ongoing advocacy and collaborative engagements for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Dr. Ololade Kehinde, continued its statewide outreach activities with a courtesy visit to the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Adediran Adekunle Saheed, and the Chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Dr. Olusola Adebisi, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The visit aimed to strengthen partnerships with key healthcare stakeholders, enhance hospital-based awareness, and promote early detection and timely intervention for breast cancer among staff and the general population.

The Nigerian Cancer Society delegation was led by the State Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, who represented the Chairman, accompanied by other distinguished members of the Society. During the engagement, the team emphasized the need for continuous education, robust support systems for cancer patients, and stronger community collaboration to reduce the growing burden of breast cancer in Ogun State.

The hospital leadership commended the Society for its proactive efforts and expressed readiness to collaborate on future cancer control initiatives.

To commemorate the Pink Month activities, the event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs, followed by a group photograph to mark the successful engagement.

Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter Continues Breast Cancer Awareness Activities at FMC Abeokuta

Today marked another impactful engagement for the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, under the distinguished leadership of our Chairman, Dr. Ololade Kehinde. As part of activities commemorating the ongoing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the State Chapter organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar for administrative staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Secretary of the Society, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, represented the Chairman and led the team of expert facilitators at the event. Dr. Salako delivered the keynote address, while other resource persons included Dr. Fatima Dauda, Mrs. Funmi Oluwasola, and Mrs. Igwilo Shakirat, who all made insightful presentations on various aspects of breast cancer prevention and awareness.

The program was graced by the Board Chairman of FMC Abeokuta, Dr. Abdullahi Dayo Israel, who also serves as the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Adediran Adekunle Saheed, and the Director of Administration, Mr. Exodus Kehinde Apanisile.

In his remarks, the Board Chairman expressed delight at the initiative and commended the Nigerian Cancer Society for its unwavering service to humanity.

The Acting Medical Director and Director of Administration also appreciated NCS Ogun State for delivering life-saving information to the hospital workforce.

As part of the program highlights, the NCS Ogun State Chapter presented a souvenir to the Board Chairman in recognition of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event concluded with group photographs to commemorate the successful outing.

DAY 1

Warm greetings from the Secretariat.

As part of activities marking the ongoing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Dr. Ololade Kehinde, paid a courtesy and collaborative visit to the Medical Director and Management Team of the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

The Medical Director, Dr. Osinaike Bababunmi, led the hospital’s management team, while Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, Secretary of the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, who also represented the Chairman of the Association, led the visiting delegation.

Other members of the NCS Ogun State delegation included Dr. Dauda F. A., Mrs. Funmi Oluwasola, Mr. Martins Olalusi, Miss Raji Lydia O., Miss Adedeji Adewunmi R., Miss Joseph Ndifeke, Mr. Samuel Adeleye, and Engr. Kayode Aina.

During the visit, the Medical Director assured the Society of the hospital’s commitment to institutional collaboration and partnership, particularly in the areas of capacity building, academic engagement, professional development, and the establishment of a strong referral system to enhance cancer care delivery within the state.

The program was fruitful, impactful, and fostered renewed commitment toward strengthening cancer awareness, early detection, and patient support initiatives across Ogun State.

2025 OCTOBER BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Warm greetings from the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter.

As part of this year’s Global October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, aligns with the worldwide campaign to increase awareness and understanding of breast cancer , a disease that continues to affect millions of women and men across the globe.

Throughout the month of October, the Chapter will roll out life-saving initiatives and vital information on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. Our programmes will focus on empowering individuals and communities with knowledge that promotes early presentation and improves treatment outcomes.

We therefore call on non-governmental organizations, private institutions, government parastatals, corporate bodies, faith-based organizations, and well-meaning individuals to partner with us in this vital cause.

Through collaborative efforts, we can significantly reduce the burden of breast cancer and improve the health and well-being of the people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

COURTESY AND COLLABORATIVE VISIT TO ALGON OGUN STATE CHAPTER

The Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Dr. Ololade Kehinde, paid a courtesy and collaborative visit to the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State Chapter, chaired by the Honourable Folashade Waliyat Adeyemo, Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government Area.

The meeting took place today, 25th July 2025, at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan Secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was attended by the Executive Chairmen of all 20 Local Government Areas in the state.

The delegation from the Nigerian Cancer Society was led by the Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, and included the following distinguished members:

The visit concluded with the presentation of a proposal for strategic partnership on cancer prevention, control, and reduction across all the local government areas of Ogun State, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the engagement.

The Nigeria Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Dr. Ololade Kehinde, paid a familiarization and courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, as part of efforts to promote cancer awareness and anti-tobacco advocacy among youths through the Ministry.

The delegation was led by the State Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, accompanied by distinguished members including Dr. Fatima Dauda, Mrs. Funmi Oluwasola, Miss Oladele, Dr Esebame and Mr. Samuel.

The Honourable Commissioner expressed his alignment with the vision of the Society and assured the team of the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate on youth-focused health initiatives.

He further stated that he would personally engage the Society in one of his personal projects.

Also present from the Ministry were the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ogunyinka Larne, and the Secretary to the Ministry.
